Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. This position requires an employee to be on-site approximately 3 times per week.

The Mechatronic Software Platform Organization leads a mission to create a robust mechatronic software infrastructure which will enable GM to deliver features and functions that will excite and delight our customers. This is a brand-new growing organization, and as such we need innovative thinkers to fill multiple openings in roles similar to those defined below. 

Controller Integration Engineer (CIE)

You will be a responsible for the integration and testing of the embedded controls and provide system level expertise to verify controller operation for troubleshooting vehicle level issues and develop recommend solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with cross functional teams to define and document thorough and efficient test scenarios

  • Verify controller functionality on a bench or vehicle using advanced testing methods and tools on time and with quality to meet program milestones

  • Troubleshoot, identify and root-cause problems in system features, controller hardware, software, calibrations, etc. that result in system operation that does not meet the design intent (including development activities, build events, buy-off rides, test trips, general fleet usage, etc.)

  • Work/support technical specialists to resolve challenging system interaction issues, working to create a robust method to predict and prevent integration issues, developing robust system issue resolving techniques and technology

  • Develop experimental software for proposed changes, and perform integration testing with minimal direction of lead engineers

Controller Test Engineer (CTE)

You will be part of a high functioning team responsible to develop and test our next generation of vehicle software!  

Responsibilities:

  • Produce controls test plans and procedures to accurately test controls software and ensure designs are of high quality

  • Develop automated test procedures that can be run on benches and/or vehicle

  • Verify and validate testing on time and with quality to meet program milestones

  • Provide testing status to leadership and the appropriate program teams

  • Coordinate and collaborate with algorithm design development engineers, technical specialists, and calibrators to improve controls algorithms

  • Have a voice in issue resolution

Additional Description

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical, Software, Mechanical or Computer Engineering

  • 2+ years of professional experience in software integration, CI/CD and/or DevOps with experience in tooling, infrastructure solutions and automated testing

  • Experience in SW development/testing, instrumentation and benches (e.g. dSPACE), Simulink, Stateflow, ETAS INCA and Vehicle Spy

  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Assembly, Perl, Java)

  • Familiarity with microprocessor/micro-controller design and theory

  • Ability to independently investigate issues based on limited information, demonstrating high level of analytical ability to resolve complex problems

  • Creative and disciplined with a strong sense of ownership, responsibility and on schedule delivery commitment

  • Capable of completing multiple tasks with competing priorities

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Software, Mechanical or Computer Engineering

  • Experience working in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

  • Experience with Automotive Communication Protocols (Ethernet/CAN/LIN)

  • Project management skills: planning and prioritizing work to deliver required objectives on time with quality
