The E-Motor Technician will be responsible for build of prototype and pre-production electric motors utilized for product and process validation and development. This is a centralized manufacturing engineering activity where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build prototype and preproduction electric motors in accordance with the build schedule.

  • Analyze motor defects and perform repairs as required.

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to develop welding process for new motor designs.

  • Modify and build simply fixtures and tooling.

  • Operate machine shop equipment (lathe, drill press, mill, hand power tools, grinder, welder, presses, etc.)

  • Operate and maintain all motor lab equipment (robotic welder, epoxy and varnish machine, presses, CNC wire    bender, wire forming machines, balancer, ovens, induction heater, electric test equipment (surge, Hi-pot), etc.)

  • Perform motor electrical tests in accordance with authorized procedures.

  • Maintain records on work performed, analyzes data collected and reports results

  • Work with engineers to improve quality and manufacturing issues.

  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards.

  • Knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel)

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in fabrication, assembly

  • Demonstrated Welding skills and experience

  • Demonstrated high level of hands on mechanical ability

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others

  • Analytical problem solving ability

  • Self-motivated with ability to initiate and apply innovative ideas and concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in mechanical and electrical related activities (i.e. auto repair)

  • Prior prototype build experience

  • Demonstrated ability to operate machine shop related equipment (lathe, mill, TIG welder, CNC equipment. etc.)

  • Fundamental design knowledge and theory of electric motors

  • Fundamental manufacturing knowledge of electric motors

  • Fundamental knowledge of wire forming, heat sinking joining, pressing, staking, machining, welding, balancing, an varnish/epoxy coating processes

  • Fundamental knowledge of Assembly and Electric Motor Assembly processes
