The Role:

Development Technicians at our Milford Proving Grounds focus on vehicle integration, test validation, development, and instrumentation. Selected candidates will perform with a high level of technical expertise. Assignments will vary based on the responsibilities of the development team. This position could be a first or second shift opportunity.

We are seeking technicians experienced in complete vehicle repair and maintenance responsible for preserving current service procedures and practices. Your background in vehicle diagnostic procedures (according to SI) and experience in performing test drives to verify sound repairs is required. You will actively participate in the Global Manufacturing System and Business Plan Deployment initiatives of the team. Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization will aid in your success.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Completing assignments according to work requests, on-time, with high quality

  • Adhere to all safety standards

  • Create accurate, complete documentation associated with task execution

  • Perform physical tasks common to the position

  • Assist with problem solving and creation of task instructions as requested

  • Maintain good housekeeping standards

  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Associate degree in an automotive field, or ASE/State Master Mechanic Certification preferred; or equivalent

  • 2+ years of experience in a job-related area

  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis

  • Experience with and knowledge of relevant technologies, tools, ballasting vehicles, operating fork trucks and operating overhead cranes

  • Travel occasionally to offsite locations and/or internationally

  • Solid Mechanical Reasoning skills

  • Proficient computer skills e.g., MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and Outlook

Understanding of:

  • HVAC Systems

  • Chassis Systems

  • Brake Systems

  • Powertrain Systems

  • Product Electronic and Sub-System Controllers

  • GM Global B experience (module replacement and flashing)

  • High level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues

  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment

  • Perform multiple projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results

  • CDL driver’s license preferred
