Work Arrangement : This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Pasadena Design Studio in Pasadena, CA or GM Global Technical Center in Warren, MI on a full-time basis.

As an intern or co-op student through our EXCEL (Exploring Careers through Experiential Learning) Program you will gain hands-on career specific experiences to maximize your real-world potential.
The Role:
Expose qualified candidates to creative careers at General Motors and identify talent for direct positions in creative clay sculpting at Design. The individual will gain an understanding of the aesthetic judgments, technology, production methods, program timelines and materials used in automotive clay sculpting.
Start dates for this internship role are May 12th & June 9th of 2025.
What You'll Do:
Work collaboratively with Design, Sculpting and Engineering to interpret sketches and develop clay scale models of a future automotive theme using established and emerging clay sculpting best practices and techniques. Present finished models to Design and Sculpting Leadership at midterm and final show events. Support general sculpting assignments within studio environment.

Required Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or Advanced degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Fine Arts, Sculpture, Ceramics, or related field

Must be graduating on or after August 2025

Demonstrates creative ability with supporting 3D portfolio

Basic understanding of design and sculpting principals including proportion, line and surface

Basic 3D software experience (Alias, Blender, etc.)

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is ($4,000 – 6,100) monthly, dependent upon class status and degree.

GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2025 Student Program.
