Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
In this role, you will provide strategic leadership for Security Technology initiatives and teams across all General Motors global sites. Your primary objective will be to ensure the operational integrity and effectiveness of security systems, which includes overseeing the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of these systems to safeguard our assets and personnel.
You will be tasked with driving innovative solutions that enhance security measures, leveraging the latest technologies and methodologies to address emerging threats and vulnerabilities. This will involve conducting thorough assessments of current security protocols and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Additionally, you will serve as a key resource for GM locations, assisting them in interpreting and complying with GM standards as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to access control, video surveillance, fire alarm systems, and emergency notification procedures. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that all security practices align with legal requirements and industry best practices.
What You'll Do
- Provide strategic direction, quality assurance and subject matter expertise for GM’s security technology initiatives.
- Lead the Global Security Technology Team, providing direction on strategic goals to further enhance risk mitigation efforts.
- Support the development and coordination of enterprise-wide strategic goals and objectives related to access control, video surveillance, fire alarm systems, emergency notification, and other security technology initiatives.
- Support development of scopes of work, evaluate proposals for cost-effectiveness, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Maintain and develop GM's global standards guidelines and supporting materials for access control systems, video surveillance, fire alarm, and emergency notification.
- Provide focused oversight to ensure security technology solutions are effectively implemented and fully utilized to enhance overall security measures.
- Assist with planning and prioritization of capital and operational budgets for security system upgrades based on lifecycle, risk reduction, efficiency and technological advancements.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to GM and supplier personnel to ensure compliance with GM standards for physical security systems and fire alarm and emergency notification systems.
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise on physical security technologies and other new technologies to ensure compliance with evolving requirements and application of best practices.
- Facilitate timely resolution of non-compliance issues.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems to maintain a robust security posture.
- Liaise with GM stakeholders, including but not limited to the following, to interpret or resolve conflicts pertaining to fire protection standards or policy interpretations: Site Security, Infrastructure and Corporate Citizenship (Facilities), Information Technology, Global Workplace Safety, Manufacturing, Risk Management & Vendors.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the physical security or related field
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience managing a global team
- Familiarity with NFPA 101 & 72 standards and methods as well as emergency response operations
- Experience with enterprise scaled access control and video management solutions
- Proven experience in performing the following: Assessing physical security technology requirements. Interpreting local laws, regulations and codes including National Fire Protection Association Codes, and the International Building Code. Reviewing building and site plans. Developing and writing policies, standards and procedures.
