Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren Technical Center three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will be the technical liaison between GM purchasing, product engineering, manufacturing, and our supply base. In this role, the Supplier Quality Engineer will work with the suppliers to resolve supplier manufacturing and quality issues, implement, and monitor advanced product quality planning systems, and provide technical support throughout the lifecycle of a deck of GPS parts.
What You'll Do:
- Assure supplier understanding and compliance with APQP processes and product PPAP submission and approval requirements.
- Review and approve supplier quality plans (Control Plans, PFMEA) for new components and assemblies for new GPS (ICE and EV) components.
- Onsite reviews of supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues.
- Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier quality issues.
- Implement and monitor supplier part qualification and certification processes (PPAP, Run-at-Rate).
- Improve quality performance of suppliers by conducting onsite workshops at supplier locations, providing technical assistance in developing a robust quality system, or other technical support as required.
- Provide technical assistance during supplier launch, change-over and ongoing production activities.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree is required. Degree in Engineering preferred (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Manufacturing, Welding, Plastics, Materials, Chemical preferred) or an equivalent Technical Degree such as Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics is acceptable, other may be considered.
- Minimum 2+ years experience in quality, engineering and/or manufacturing.
- Knowledgable in fundamental supplier quality processes, such as APQP and PPAP.
- Proficient in print reading and interpretation, part measurement, gage design and function.
- Comprehension of geometric design and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Comprehension of probability, statistical quality control and design of experiments.
- Ability to investigate quality problems and to apply sound technical judgment to develop potential solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and lead diverse cross functional teams simultaneously.
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others.
- Strong oral, written and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Technical and Quality Certifications are a plus
- OEM or Tier 1 experience in powertrain quality, manufacturing or engineering functions, including demonstrated experience and capability in any of the following areas:
1) Statistical Problem Solving (Red X, DFSS, DMAIC).
2) Product Engineering
3) Lean Manufacturing and or Manufacturing Quality.
4) Manufacturing, Process and or Tool Engineering.
