This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of [Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford or Mountain View], you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

What You'll Do

The Applied Analytics & Insights team is focused on execution-based analytics to help GM organizations achieve better business outcomes through contextualized solutions with targeted actions. The individual will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of various experience levels that frame opportunities, wrangle the necessary data, and design and execute analytical models in support of better business decisions. The team is responsible for both advanced analytics strategy and applied, project-based solutions, focusing on the company’s most critical business areas.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Working on a cross-functional team to propose and implement high-impact, data-driven solutions to address business problems & objectives across a variety of business units.
  • Apply Data Science and Modeling techniques to drive data driven decision making and solve complex business problems:
    • Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms
    • Analyze large amounts of diverse information to discover trends and patterns
    • Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
    • Monitor and sustain model effectiveness
    • Combine models through ensemble modeling
    • Present complex information using data visualization techniques
  • Defining & estimating development work items.
  • Participating in (and preferably leading) project planning, scrum, and retrospective sessions.
  • Working with diverse technical teams, providing data and analytical oversight to ensure project deliverables fulfill business needs and timing.
  • Completing planned work items on time, including documentation and presenting/demonstrating results to project teams, business stakeholders, and in organizational knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Cleaning, preprocessing, and transforming raw data into usable formats, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Exploring and experimenting with new data sources, techniques, and algorithms to continuously improve analytical capabilities.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify data-driven opportunities and provide guidance on data collection and storage.
  • Working independently and guiding more junior resources through standard projects
  • Identifying long-term technical innovations while continuously improving execution efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or in a related role, developing, deploying, and monitoring performance of large analytic data sets and machine learning based models
  • A Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Preferred experience with customer lifetime value, causal inference, and causal modeling
  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python or R for data manipulation, analysis, modeling and experience working with cloud platforms like Azure.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning techniques, algorithms, and libraries.
  • Preferred hands-on experience developing and deploying models using MLops framework utilizing Databricks /Azure services (Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Power BI) or AWS tools (SageMaker, Glue, EMR) or GCP (Dataflow, Big Query, Cloud Run)
  • Experience with natural language processing, text analytics, and/or generative AI, including libraries and frameworks such as pandas, nltk, BERTopic, scikit-learn, and LangChain is a plus.
  • Capable of working with diverse technical teams to produce analytical dataset pipelines and user interfaces
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to effectively communicate insights.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business questions into data-driven solutions.
  • Familiarity with data storage solutions, databases, and data processing frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills to present findings and collaborate across teams.
  • Eager to learn and stay up to date with latest/emerging technologies, methods, and trends.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects without sacrificing quality.
  • Highly collaborative work style.
  • Ability to evaluate the big picture and provide meaningful business insights and actions.

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
