Salesforce Software Engineer
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical Innovation Center in Austin (TX) or Warren (MI) three times per week, at minimum. This position can be located at either of these 2 locations.

The Role
We are seeking a driven and talented Salesforce Software Engineer to join our team. This role provides an opportunity to develop and support cutting-edge Salesforce solutions while contributing to our GM Energy processes and business objectives.
We are looking for someone will bring strong technical expertise, initiative, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a fast-paced environment. This role requires a focus on quality, performance, and innovation, with opportunities to grow technical and professional skills.
What You'll Do

Design, develop, and test Salesforce solutions, including Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWCs), Visualforce pages, and process automations.

Develop automated test scripts and refine code for performance optimization.

Collaborate with stakeholders to define user and system specifications and translate these into effective technical solutions.

Apply foundational practices such as the software development lifecycle (SDLC), test-driven development (TDD), and version control.

Leverage critical thinking and debugging skills to identify and resolve technical issues.

Participate in architectural and design reviews to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Build and maintain strong relationships with peers, mentors, and managers to enhance team contributions.

Identify opportunities to drive improvements in productivity and efficiency.

Suggest novel solutions to complex problems and proactively contribute to team and project goals.

Demonstrates very good understanding of the processes and procedures relevant to own work area with the ability to exercise decision-making skills sufficient to identify and propose solutions to leadership. Understands different areas of their function and how the operations of their area relate to others.

Identifies and corrects non-routine problems in existing systems and processes through independent judgment. Independently identifies and applies appropriate company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.

Works under general supervision with limited guidance and direction. Determines an appropriate course of action within broad guidelines and can handle nearly every standard or typical request independently.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in Engineer, Computer Science or related field

3+ years of salesforce software engineering/development experience

In-depth expertise in Salesforce development (Apex, LWCs, Visualforce, SOQL)

Ability to manage multiple timelines and deliverables effectively

Strong engineering practices in a specific domain with demonstrated proficiency in software development, testing, and debugging

Self-driven with a proven ability to learn and grow with mentoring and guidance

Working knowledge of additional programming languages and software design principles

Experience with Salesforce integrations using APIs and middleware (e.g., MuleSoft)
