Staff Program Manager, Mechatronic Infrastructure

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Global Technical Center in Warren (MI) or Milford Proving Ground in Milford (MI) three times per week, at minimum. This position can be located at either of these 2 locations.

The Role

As a Staff Program Manager within the Mechatronic Infrastructure group, you will play a strategic leadership role in defining, driving, and scaling foundational software and tooling capabilities that support GM’s evolving electrical architectures. You’ll operate with broad autonomy, partnering across engineering, product, and business domains to ensure critical infrastructure programs align with enterprise priorities. Your influence will extend beyond delivery - shaping how programs are structured, decisions are made, and outcomes are achieved.

This role is ideal for a systems thinker with deep technical awareness, who excels at navigating complexity, resolving ambiguity, and leading across organizational boundaries.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide cross-functional leadership across multiple infrastructure and tooling programs, with responsibility for long-term strategic planning and operational execution.

  • Define and align program objectives with enterprise architecture and product strategies, translating vision into actionable technical and delivery roadmaps.

  • Drive lifecycle execution for Basic Software (BSW) and infrastructure tooling components — from concept through deployment — ensuring integration across domains.

  • Align and manage dependencies across architecture, controls, tooling, systems, and validation teams to ensure synchronized delivery.

  • Establish and evolve program structures, governance models, and decision-making frameworks that enable efficiency, transparency, and adaptability.

  • Identify and mitigate systemic risks while enabling continuous improvement through metrics, retrospectives, and stakeholder feedback.

  • Represent Mechatronic Infrastructure in enterprise-wide planning forums, shaping investment priorities and resource strategies.

  • Author and maintain key program documentation including multi-phase execution plans, risk assessments, and stakeholder engagement models.

  • Proven success navigating ambiguity and resolving conflict in dynamic, high-stakes environments.
