As the Quality Engineer you will manage daily project requests and help prioritize all data streams. Provide problem solving leadership for commodities. Develop quick containments with robust long term solutions to different problems as they arise. Present the Assembly Plant and Engineering Staff with clear problem definition and technical guidance on complex problems. Support Launch of new products in the plant when applicable. 


Scope of Responsibilities:
• Manage multiple projects with broad scope and high degree of difficulty.
• Generate unique technical solutions utilizing Seven Diamonds Process, Red X and other tools as applicable.
• Manage emerging issues and perform Spill Coordinator responsibilities.
• Eliminate supplier quality and engineering issues impacting GCA, Direct Run Losses and Warranty.
• Assist production in prevention of defect occurrence and recommend process changes.
• Work with Launch Team on new vehicle builds.
• Work with suppliers to address PRR’s issued and ensure robust countermeasures.
• Work with suppliers and engineering to develop inspection standards for parts and subassemblies.
• Share Lessons Learned with Engineering to prevent repeat design or build issues.
• Review of nonconforming parts and sub-assemblies for proper initial disposition and root cause follow-up.
• Coordinate periodic system and process audits at the plant and at suppliers.
• Support quality evaluation of new vehicles with engineering and production.
• Coordinate engineering change implementation. Assist in running PTRs.
• Team of 3 member, driving electrical improvements

Description
Responsible for problem solving and resolution of both voice of the process and voice of the customer driven issues. Develop timely solutions that minimize overall cost and time to implement while maximizing effectiveness using a considerable amount of creativity and initiative.  Successful candidates will be considered to fill the following positions: Interior, Exterior, Chassis, Squeak & Rattle/Water Leak, and or Electrical.

 

Responsibilities
  • Co-Chair the IRT throughout the Launch Cycle
  • Drive the IRT to Identify and Close all Issues prior to SORP
  • Problem Solving for All VOC Metrics through RC and ICA
  • Lead resolution of Supplier Quality issues affecting Assembly Plant
  • Coordinate Repair, Rework and Containment Activities for Identified Spills throughout Launch
  • Participate in High Risk Supplier Phone Calls
  • Creates PRC's and gains approval to PRTS'
  • Lead/Participate in Easel Board reviews and wrap up meetings
  • Viewed by other Resources, Teams and Suppliers as Problem Solving Expert
  • Drive SMT needed changes protecting Manufacturing and Assembly Requirements
  • Facilitate and drive Diamonds 1 thru 4 and write PRR's for Part Quality Issues
  • Facilitates Supplier Visits
  • Create PQS’
  • Primary Quality Contact for Launch activities

Qualifications
Required:
  • Required:

    • Experience with electrical commodities as Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, Process Engineer, Design Engineer and/or Reliability Engineer.
    • Exercises independent judgment in managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from supervisor.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead diverse/cross-functional teams as well as mentor, motivate and elicit work output from peers and other team members.
    • Effective communicator with solid oral and written presentation skills.

    Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
    • Understanding of GSIP, GEPICS, Excel, PRTS, GQTS, PAD’s.
    • Familiar with pulling prints, reading drawings, working with Vis mockup, GDIS, Gage Strategies
    • Familiar with 7-diamond process.
    • Red X Journeyman Certification
    • Good understanding of SPC
    • Engineering Work Order (EWO)/Parts Release familiarity
    • Certified Quality Engineer
