Position summary

Transmission Calibration Engineer


Transmission Calibration Engineers work with vehicles, software and algorithms to design and release transmission calibrations to meet customer design and performance requirements. They ensure the powertrain integration so the vehicle performs at world-class levels to meet program objectives.

  • Executes Calibration Engineering Standard Work per procedures and maintain support documentation
  • Suggests calibration procedure enhancements and readily shares lessons learned
  • Optimizes calibration through data collection and analysis to meet program requirements
  • Designs, reviews, and posts calibrations to support interim and production milestone events
  • Coordinates calibration activities with Vehicle and Powertrain personnel to maximize resource efficiency
  • Supports development of dynamometer tools for calibration development
  • Confirms new software features integrate with control system to meet functionality requirements
  • Perform root cause analysis and error correction of system level problems relating to calibration, controls, hardware software, and architecture
  • Work with calibration and controls engineers to support new feature algorithm requirements development
  • Actively participate in calibration peer reviews
  • Defines system requirements
  • Plans and implements test and/or development programs
  • Releases calibrations for production
  • Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering
  • Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
  • Travel as required


  • BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering, Chemical or Mathematics
  • Minimum 2+ years of engineering related experience
  • Mechanical and controls aptitude
  • Understanding of data acquisition and analysis
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
    Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required


  • Knowledge of transmission design systems and calibration
  • Knowledge of INCA/ETAS data acquisition
  • Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering 
  • DFSS Certification preferred
