The Diagnostic Strategist is responsible for leading development, validation/verification, and compliance of the vehicle level Onboard Diagnostic system. A typical week includes in-vehicle calibration & testing, lab/bench/analytical activities, and collaboration with algorithm/software and hardware engineers.
We're seeking a motivated candidate for a Diagnostic Strategist calibration engineer position in GM's Electrification group at the Milford Proving Ground. The selected candidate will work on GM's hybrid/EV programs and be responsible for leading, developing, releasing, validation, and compliance of the on-board diagnostic controls and calibrations.
The position involves significant in-vehicle and lab work, along with related analytical and performance verification activities. Diagnostic Strategist Calibration engineers engage in cross-functional teams, are expected to handle multiple projects/priorities, and frequently need to balance planned and unplanned work.
The Diagnostic Strategist Calibration engineer participates in offsite development trips as well as onsite program team vehicle evaluations. In GM’s Electrification group, diagnostic strategist calibration engineers at the Milford Proving ground are located in a unique facility dedicated to hybrid/EV development.
Role & Responsibilities:
Engineering Degree (ME or EE preferred)
Minimum 2 years of on-board vehicle diagnostic calibration experience
Minimum 5 years of calibration experience
Minimum 7 years of engineering industry experience
CARB OBD regulation knowledge
Independent worker requiring little direction, and works well in a team environment
Good leadership skills
Excellent problem solving skills
DFSS Green Belt
7+ years of calibration experience in engine, transmission, or electrification (hybrid/EV) systems
Experience with software processes / change control
Experience working with CARB/EPA on OBD regulations
Excellent planning and organizing skills
Masters degree in engineering
DFSS Black Belt
