Supervise a medium to large group of employees involved in plant production operations.
Bedford is a 3 shift operation and candidates must be available to work any shift. (Rotating shift schedule)
Scope of Responsibilities:
Provide a leadership role in the implementation of major department initiatives
Assist in the development of manufacturing processes for area of responsibility
Communicate between shifts, departmental areas and other departments to implement best practices, resolve problems and sustain consistent performance to objectives
Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union, and management
Provide environment which stimulates team member’s involvement and personal growth through communication, suggestions, development training plans, etc.
Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics and health and safety (safety talks, job instruction training, ergonomic evaluations, and safety incident reports)
Maintain awareness of quality standards, communicate department quality goals and leverage resources to solve quality problems
Drive first time quality in station
Control costs and achieve productivity improvements
Respond to work environment to meet production schedule
Maintain workplace organization
Understand and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements
Provide input to payroll and perform other administrative tasks, as required
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- High level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations
- Able to work well in a team environment
- Lean Manufacturing knowledge
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage people
