Supervise a medium to large group of employees involved in plant production operations.  

 

Bedford is a 3 shift operation and candidates must be available to work any shift.  (Rotating shift schedule)


Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Provide a leadership role in the implementation of major department initiatives
  • Assist in the development of manufacturing processes for area of responsibility
  • Communicate between shifts, departmental areas and other departments to implement best practices, resolve problems and sustain consistent performance to objectives
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union, and management
  • Provide environment which stimulates team member’s involvement and personal growth through communication, suggestions, development training plans, etc.
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics and health and safety (safety talks, job instruction training, ergonomic evaluations, and safety incident reports)
  • Maintain awareness of quality standards, communicate department quality goals and leverage resources to solve quality problems
  • Drive first time quality in station
  • Control costs and achieve productivity improvements
  • Respond to work environment to meet production schedule
  • Maintain workplace organization
  • Understand and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements
  • Shift rotation
  • Provide input to payroll and perform other administrative tasks, as required

 

 


High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

  • High level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations
  • Able to work well in a team environment
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage people

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP)
