Position summary

Job Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Supervise a medium to large group of employees. Work is generally of a technical nature with the ability to make decisions within the limits of general standards and practices. Some direct guidance received from supervisor.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Effective use of personnel, material and equipment
  • Meets production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements
  • Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
  • Implements safety and good housekeeping practices
  • Implements divisional and corporate policies
  • Frequent contact with others outside the work group
  • Keeps management informed of developments as they occur
  • Maintains corporate and unit management control systems
  • Promotes the development and maintenance of productive union relationships
  • Maintains departmental records
Qualifications Required:
Three (3) or more years of experience in the following areas:
  • Ability to implement lean manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic technology of area where assigned
  • Knowledge of scheduling and other management systems
  • High analytical ability where problems are complex
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures
  • Experience supervising employees in a union environment
  • Experience supervising employees in a manufacturing environment
  • Flexibility to work any shift
 Qualifications Preferred:
  • Machining or production assembly experience preferred.
 Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training
