Installation Engineer – Body Shop Execution
This engineer is responsible for the definition of the statement of requirements,and the management of the execution of process equipment installation in the Body Center.  This engineer will be responsible for both Press and Body Shop equipment installations.  Creativity and initiative are key characteristics of this position.  An installation contractor will be work directly for this engineer, and the engineer will be directly responsible for all aspects of their work, including Safety, Schedule, and Cost. This engineer will consult with their supervisor as required.
  • Manages Construction Safety
  • Generates technical solutions for current, new and major programs
  • Provides technical leadership for the contractor
  • Estimates the value of the work
  • Develops engineering designs (including subsystems)
  • Implements engineering changes
  • Defines construction requirements
  • Solves engineering related problems
  • Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support build programs
  • Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations
  • Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering, such as manufacturing
  • Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
  • Travels as required
Basic Required
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • Specific knowledge of the union construction industry
  • 5-10 years of construction management experience
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required
  • Understanding of Microsoft Project and Excel
  • Ability to use AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Press and Body Shop systems
  • Knowledge of Robotic Systems

Basic Preferred

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Applicable Journeyman’s Card
  • Technical Degree in Construction Management or Equivalent Experience


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
