Position summary

Location: Warren, MI


About the role:

  • Develop, validate andevaluate new test techniques and facilities as required to meet productdevelopment/validation test programs and special projects
  • Validate and evaluatetest techniques and facilities for accuracy, reliability, repeatability, andcorrelation to actual service requirements
  • Develop test plans, testtechniques and test procedures to meet product program requirements
  • Coordinate all projectactivity with the laboratory supervisor to assure maximum utilization ofpersonnel and equipment
  • Coordinate developmentand execution of product validation plans with the appropriate productengineering staff
  • Be aware of newpractices, procedures, and materials and evaluate them regularly forapplication in our facilities
  • Perform other assignmentsas requested by the supervisor
  • Follow safe jobprocedures 
  • Approve outside labtesting methods and data output
  • Maintain awareness oflatest test equipment technology
  • Identify and resolve testequipment problems.
  • Serve on Product ADVCore Team for development and validation planning support, providing statusfeedback and lab capability expertise
  • Develop test readinessplans for Lab to meet product program requirements and timing
  • Recommend product andLab process improvements

 

 

Required Skills and Experience:

 

  • B.S. Engineering 
  • Highly knowledgeable of laboratory testing processes
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of automotive energy storage systems.
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are complex
  • Time management skills to meet agreed upon customer deliverables, able to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with local and international product development partners to meet mutual goals
  • Technical writing ability to create written engineering evaluation reports
  • Ability to read, interpret and generate engineering drawings and specifications
  • Quick learner, able to handle planned and unplanned work, and able to handle multiple projects
  • 2 years of HV battery experience OR 2 years of lab test and development experience
  • 5 years of overall engineering experience

Preferred Skills andExperience:


  • Masters degree in Engineering
  • High voltage or electrified vehicle safety training and hands on work experience.
  • Working knowledge of battery test methods including GMW 16390 and GMW 3172.
  • May be considered as a technical expert for use of certain tests/equipment including battery cyclers, environmental chambers and voltage, current, temperature and pressure measurement equipment.
  • DFSS training
  • RED X training
