Position summary

Wood Shop – Supervisor
 

Assist in executing thebusiness plan for the respective Design Fabrication Shop.  Proactively pursue the vision established forthe area and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation.  Has supervisory responsibility for a mediumto large group of employees involved in the fabrication of Wood/Metal models.  Work is of a technical nature usingindependent judgment within the limits of general practices and standards.  Some creativity initiative is required. 

 
  • SuperviseUAW Skilled Trades Personnel in the construction of Marketing, Show and ConceptProperties
  • Providea leadership role in the implementation of major department initiatives
  • Maintainawareness of quality standards, communicate department quality goals andleverage resources to solve quality problems
  • Drivefirst time quality in the build of models
  • Buildand maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management
  • Understandand consistently administer the National and Local UAW Agreements
  • Promotesafe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safetyand housekeeping
  • Motivate,train and develop employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizingstandardized methods
  • Assistin the training and development of salaried and hourly employees
  • UtilizeLabor Relations in accordance with Corporate Policies and Procedures and GovernmentRegulations
  • Communicatebetween shifts, departmental areas and other departments to implement bestpractices, resolve problems and sustain consistent performance to objectives
  • Controlcosts and achieve productivity improvements
  • Provideinput to payroll and perform other administrative tasks, as required
  • Knowledgeof specialty/concept vehicle build – raw material to finished product
  • Solvebuild problems
  • Interpretand analyze work orders, drawings, and parts list
  • Monitorquality control and build schedule
  • Workingknowledge of GMS System
  • SafetyIncident report investigations – Lead and facilitate
  • Meetall timing, quality and cost requirements
  • Interpretverbal design direction

  • Demonstratethorough knowledge of tools, materials, equipment and processes for respectivearea of responsibility
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Tools 
Education and Training 
  • Collegedegree or equivalent training
  • Journeypersonmodel maker or equivalent experience 
Requirements
  • Abilityto work 1st or 2nd Shift as required
  • Abilityto work extended hours including Weekends
