Position summary


OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES:


This position is part of the Global RTP (“Request to Pay”) Processes, Controls & Compliance area within the GBS (Global Business Services) organization and will report to the Materials Management Team Lead, RTP Training & Transformation.


The primary responsibilities of this position is to develop and execute effective training strategies/programs with the ultimate objective of delivering eSAP training and post-deployment enduser support to ensure successful eSAP implementations to various sites globally as well as to plan/develop/execute ongoing training and end user support strategies (onsite and remote) to maintain and further enhance the eSAP skills/proficiency within the end user community. The Project Manager Training and Transformation will develop and execute project and resource plans to ensure successful eSAP initial and retrofit deployments globally. When assigned as the lead of the overall training team (MM and SRM) assigned to a specific project, he/she is responsible for managing all resource related matters on the project.


This entails development and enforcing of project plans, execution of training needs analysis in conjunction with the affected stakeholders and the subsequent development/tailoring of effective training strategies, incorporation of those strategies into the respective project plans, resource planning across projects, balancing of competing customer requirements/objectives across GM functions globally (e.g. IT, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Finance). The position requires domestic and international travel (estimated at 20-40%).

SCOPE AND CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS, KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute project plans to ensure flawless eSAP deployments (training and hypercare) for assigned sites
  • Lead training needs analysis
  • Determine appropriate training strategies based upon training needs analysis findings
  • Manage a 3-5 person training team during eSAP deployment projects
  • Proactively anticipate project risks and issues to identify resources, corrective actions or leadership escalations needed to maintain project timelines
  • Create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning
  • Direct and oversee all project requirements from initiations through close of a project
  • Manage conflicts and perform problem resolution
  • Efficiently identify and solve project issues
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with Senior GM Leadership and other country / site leads globally
  • Provide direction to the RTP Instructional Design Team to adapt training plans/ materials / lesson plans / exercises to best support the pre-deployment training of a particular site
  • Execute instructor lead training to all levels within the GM organization (
  • Develop and execute pre-deployment training schedules in cooperation with the client site to cover all affected roles (e.g. Crib Attendant, Receiving Clerk/Supervisor, MRP Planner, MRP Controller, POU KanBan, Crib Automation)
  • Build data/scenarios in the SAP training client to support hands on exercises
  • Coach end users one-on-one as needed
  • Collect and evaluate training feedback and develop recommendations to continuously improve training content and delivery
  • Provide special post-deployment support “Hypercare” to the deployed sites (usually 2-4 weeks following the deployment date)
  • Execute post-deployment ongoing training initiatives (instructor lead onsite/remote) (Refresher training as well as new employee training)
  • Travel nationally and internationally in support of pre and post deployment training (estimated travel at 20-40%)

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred) (communications, computer science or science-adult education preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 or more years experience in Project Management
  • 5 or more years classroom adult training experience (SAP or other Software preferred)
  • eSAP Certifications (Materials Management (Indirect Materials), POU KanBan, Crib Automation) or equivalent experience with the General Motors eSAP solution
  • 5 or more years solid hands-on experience with SAP Materials Management (MM)
  • Experience with the SAP FICO module (preferred)
  • Business experience in Materials Management (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • At least 1-2 years experience with GMs eSAP system in the Materials Management space
  • Strong organizational, presentation and customer service skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to effectively work with and instruct a wide variety of clients/end users as it relates to their educational level (from high school or less to university graduates)
  • Ability to quickly and effectively understand new business processes and systems
  • Ability to effectively document existing business processes using MS Visio or BlueWorks live
  • Ability to follow facilitator guides to provide the required standardized level of instruction to all client sites
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging and effective training initiatives to build and grow essential knowledge and enhance user adoption
  • Ability to create/ set up training data in SAP SRM/ECC MM to support hands on training exercises
  • Basic knowledge of project management in support of developing and executing training plans/schedules to support the overall site deployment plans/ schedules
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer services and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to deliver classroom and remote online training
  • Some knowledge of instructional design theory and adult learning principles (preferred)
  • Fluent in English spoken and written (required)
  • Fluent in Spanish spoken and written (preferred)
