Lead on a global basis the design and execution of Risk Mitigation Program for Electrical Safety and Electrical Safe Work Practices (ESWP). Provide technical expertise and support to multiple organizations and harmonize Standards, Training, Machinery and Equipment and Facilities Specifications.


Customers and Stakeholders: Global, Regional and Site Workplace Safety Leaders, Site Performance Standard Champions, Functional Subject Matter Experts from groups such as Facilities and Manufacturing Engineering.

Expectations: (1) Collaboration with various customers and stakeholders in the successful execution of the Safety Management System components related to Electrical Safety (2) Effective leadership in the collaboration and team development with stakeholders and customers, (3) Interaction with Global functional groups and stakeholders for implementation of common standards, (4) Lead the harmonization of Safety Standards and Engineering Specifications in relation to Electrical Safety.


This position reports to the Global Workplace Risk Mitigation Manager and has responsibility for leadership in the implementation of the Risk Assessment, Electrical Safety, Hazardous Energy Control, Machine Guarding and Fall Hazard Control standards. The person selected will be responsible for interfacing across all various stakeholders throughout the globe to ensure the consistent execution. Travel will be required for this position.


1. Establish implementation strategies

2. Design and develop standards and technical guidance documentation.

3. Work with different stakeholders and form a global council to create synergies and ownership

4. Lead a network of Champions to share practices and upgrades to the processes

5. Lead the harmonization of Safety Standards with different Facilities and Equipment Engineering Specifications.

6. Responsible to monitor the execution of the Performance Standards.

7. Drive long term sustainability for related Electrical Safety Performance and Technical Standards.

8. Identify continuous improvements and implement through collaboration with Global Workplace Safety (GWS) Leadership and other stakeholders.

9. Lead the design of training and educational activities.

10. Perform periodic site visits to ensure attainment of the performance standard requirements and coach site leads and stakeholders into implementation.

11. Coach and mentor GWS leaders to meet the Performance Standard requirements.

Prior to assignment the candidate must meet most of the following requirements:

1. Demonstrated leadership in complex Safety and manufacturing environment.

2. Knowledge Electrical Safety Standards.

3. Demonstrated leadership skills in the areas of building relationships being collaborative, decisive, innovative, inspirational, and visionary.

4. Leadership competencies and the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels and across the globe.

5. Multi-Cultural experience is desired

7. Communicating Effectively

8. Degree in Safety or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Safety Leadership Role or Equivalent Manufacturing Engineering or Facilities Execution.

9. Master’s Degree or Professional Safety Certification is desired


• Functional/Technical Capability and Problem Solving:

Understanding of national and international regulatory requirements related to Safety Controls.

Demonstrated ability identifying Workplace Safety hazards and assessing associated risk.

Functional experience with various General Motors systems and Risk Control processes, especially the Electrical Safe Work Practices (ESWP).
