Hybrid - Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the [general expectation is that the employee be onsite] an average of three (3) days each week.
The Role
As an Inverter Design Release Engineer in the Global Stand-Alone Power Inverter Release team within the Global Electrification Battery Systems (GEBS) group, you will be responsible for definition of requirements, execution of design and support of the analysis/development/testing of inverters. You will also provide technical direction to other engineers and engineering support personnel to enable seamless integration into the drive unit and electrified vehicle.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Lead mechanical and electrical design teams to define inverter sub-component requirements and designs compliant with BOD/BOM/BOP.
- Lead PDT to ensure inverter is designed, built, tested, and delivered on time with quality.
- Communicate program updates in leadership forums to horizontal and vertical teams.
- Complete and review DFMEAs and DRBFMs for all parts / design changes.
- Conduct technical design reviews and initiate applicable assembly drawing reviews.
- Engage with advanced teams on inverter design and parts lists development.
- Develop and execute project timing plans.
- Initiate and execute engineering change requests, material orders and bundled service agreements.
- Demonstrate designs meet requirements by analysis, development, and validation.
- Work as part of a diverse team of global professionals supporting component development including mechanical design, thermal/structural and electrical analysis.
- Lead PDT to bring Problem Resolution and Tracking System issues to resolution.
- Collaborate cross functionally with purchasing, supplier quality and manufacturing to align on inverter timing, required design/process updates and approved electrification program changes.
- Contribute to the continued development of the BOD/BOM/BOP.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (BSME, BSEE, BS Materials Engineering)
- 5 years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience with EV propulsion component engineering/design release.
- Understanding of EV/PHEV architecture and propulsion systems.
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design.
- Knowledge of drawing GD&T and dimensional stack-ups.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
- High level of project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- High level of interest and a strong understanding of system level design / integration.
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult.
- Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering.
- Travel as required (10%) (domestic & international).
