The Role

General Motors Oshawa Assembly is looking to fill the Production Control Lead position within Global Supply Chain Team. This position is responsible for the supervision of a large team of salaried employees, engaged in the activities and functions of production control, which include oversight of production scheduling, engineering change coordination, production trial runs, production build broadcasting and build document formatting, and ECR/TWO (Engineering Change Request / Temporary Work Order) tracking.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Communicate and support preparation for model mix changes

  • Analyze weekly vehicle forecast

  • Lead introduction and trial of new assembly options, marketing packages and new build combinations

  • Lead critical changes processes: engineering change coordination, production trial run, temporary work order

  • Support GEPICS (Global Enterprise Production Information Control System) business function and administrative efforts related to the platform

  • Responsible for analysis of corporate ‘M schedule’ and translation to plant operating plan

  • Oversee plant ‘delayed order’ process to support timely delivery of customer orders

  • Manage plant VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) print and security processes

  • Lead various activities related to plant launch (major and minor)

  • Support MVB (Manufacturing Validation Build) material readiness calls

  • Plan MVB order flow through plant production departments

  • Oversee MVB bill of material

  • Support GMS (Global Manufacturing System); responsible for maintenance and development of various elements in SLT

  • Manage team of Control Room Analysts who provide time sensitive floor support related to production labels and GEPICS

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/ or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain.

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage large volume of time sensitive tasks / activities.

  • Quick learner, able to adapt quickly in production critical manufacturing environment.

  • Effective communication skills, ability to communicate with all levels of the organization as well as supply base.

  • Process oriented with focus on continuous improvement.

  • Computer skills, MS office, proficiency in Excel, some work with Access.

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Knowledge of automotive supply chains and material.

  • Experience in automotive / manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with GM Systems and processes (MGO (Material Global Optimization), GEPICS, POMS (Production Order Management & Scheduling))
