We are looking for a focused and hands-on people leader with a passion for delivering high-quality cloud software at high velocity.  The ideal leader will take extreme ownership of all cloud applications that support the capture of data from millions of vehicles we have manufactured across the world.  As the cloud applications lead, you will lead the teams building our data and control planes which are the primary interface of our vehicles to the our back office systems.  You will promote best practices and help the team reach their full potential.  You will work alongside engineering leaders to build the foundation upon which GM data collection will operate on for years to come.

What You’ll do:

  • Lead the team to build secure, reliable, and scalable applications to manage data collection on millions of vehicles
  • Build and grow a highly functional team that operates with quality and velocity
  • Stay hands-on with the code base.  Reviewing PRs and contributing enhancements to help demonstrate to the team the level of craftsmanship we expect to see in the code.
  • Manage the team’s on-call rotation and act as an escalation path to support your team’s applications
  • Participate in mentorship programs to help grow the team from your experiences

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent degree
  • 15+ years of experience in cloud application development, deployment, and operations
  • Experience building and operating enterprise cloud environments
  • Experience building scalable and reliable applications
  • Ability to work well cross-functionally, and navigate through ambiguity 
  • Ability to think rigorously, evaluate tradeoffs, and make challenging decisions

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering preferred
  • Experience managing millions of clients (users, applications, or devices)

Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

The salary range for this role is $269,000 to $349,300. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
