Staff Product Manager – Digital Performance Improvement
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Global Technical Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
The Staff Product Manager for Digital Performance Improvement is responsible for leading organizational efforts to ensure that our digital products meet the highest standards of performance, quality, and reliability for our customers.
This role is crucial in driving passion and cultural growth across the GM Software & Services digital product teams to increase focus on product performance, customer pain point elimination, and thus, increased customer satisfaction.
In this position you will collaborate closely with all stakeholders to define and embed performance objectives, measurements, processes, and performance improvement behaviors into the operating DNA of the organization. We are looking for a passionate, hands-on, and results-oriented leader who leads by example and demonstrates a deep commitment to achieving world-class product performance.
What You’ll Do
Define the strategy and develop the plan.

Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive product performance improvement plan that aligns with industry best practices and company objectives.

Ensure that the plan is cross-functionally aligned with Customer Care/Support, Software Quality, SRE, and Operations key stakeholders.

Develop clear, documented product performance policies, procedures, best practices, and guidelines for all digital product areas.
Drive execution of the plan.

Define top-level organization performance objectives and lead efforts to achieve them.

Breakdown top-level objectives into actionable and traceable goals for individual product teams.

Ensure that product teams have the necessary plans and operational practices to achieve these objectives.

Lead efforts to identify, analyze, and drive resolution customer pain points that require cross-functional collaboration.

Analyze performance data, customer feedback, and trends to recommend corrective actions or process enhancements.
Grow organizational focus and culture.

Cultivate a product performance-driven culture by promoting awareness, ownership, and accountability at all organizational levels.

Develop and deliver training programs to elevate employee skills in customer-oriented performance metrics, measurement strategies, and continuous improvement processes.

Foster engagement and learning by celebrating successes, seeking lessons learned, and sharing best practices across product areas.
Communicate prolifically.

Regularly report on the status of performance management initiatives, performance metrics, and continuous improvement progress to senior leadership, peers, and partner organizations.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in Product Management, Quality Management, Business Administration, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.

7+ years of Software / Digital Product Management, or Software Product Quality Management experience required.

Experience with analyzing and driving performance improvement for digital products.

Proven ability to lead highly complex and cross-functional enterprise initiatives.

Exceptional customer orientation, problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.

Strong background in driving cultural transformations and organizational change management.

Natural 360-degree communicator with ability to adapt style/content appropriately for everyone from senior leadership to technical development teams.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and drive change across teams.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Master’s degree or higher.

Certification in ISO9001, Design for Six Sigma Black Belt, or other relevant operational excellence certifications preferred.

Formal experience in quality management and/or process improvement roles preferred.

Experience in a PPO or PMO environment.
