Work Arrangement


This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Advanced Technical Center in Shanghai, China five times per week.

The Role -

We are looking for experienced and motivated candidates for the role of Senior HIL Simulation Engineer within the Vehicle Integration & Validation organization.

This role is responsible for commissioning of HIL test bench, bring-up of HIL capabilities in sensor simulation, automation, and execution etc. for multiple vehicle programs. This position involves also continuous development of HIL technology to enhance the HIL testing capability and range.

And it requires a deep understanding of Hardware-in-the-Loop test as they apply to systems and vehicle integration and validation. A balance of technical theory with practical limitation skills and the ability to think outside the box to find simple yet exciting solutions is paramount.  

What You’ll Do -

  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify requirements, schedule, and deploy bench development to enable vehicle design, development, and validation sign off.
  • Test bench commissioning and maintenance for creating xiL test environments, including but not limited. harness retrofit, sensor simulation (camera ESI, lidar), serial data communication and controller models, etc.
  • Hands-on integration and debug of EE system components, incl. ADAS/AD and Infotainment controller.
  • Development of bench test automation framework and script.
  • Manual and automated test execution for software release tests, analysis of test results and generation of test reports.
  • Continuous development of next-generation HIL and simulation technologies, e.g., scenario generation from real vehicle measurement, Replay HIL, etc.
  • Design and implementation of data replay solution, incl. data recording, transmission, data replay and management, etc.
  • Provide technical support for test environment user activities to root cause and address unexpected test results and resolve issues encountered during test execution.
  • Interface with team members, test environment customers, technical leaders, and management as necessary to support and execute program imperatives.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) ​​  

  • 5-7 years of experience in ADAS/AD HIL testing area with proven HIL bench integration and commissioning and test execution experience.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with simulation platform and tools, preferably with dSPACE tools chains.
  • Strong understanding of ADAS/AD sensors (Radar, Camara, LiDAR), signal conditioning, data acquisition electronics and sensor modelling.
  • Advanced knowledge with vehicle communication and diagnostic protocols, CAN/CANFD, Ethernet, SOME/IP, LVDS etc.
  • Good understanding of L2/L2++ ADAS/AD features, such as AEB, LSS, ACC, LCC, HNP, UNP, etc.
  • Prior experience in VCU integration and testing, proficient in the basic operation and debugging tools of operating systems such as QNX, Linux or Android Automotive.
  • Strong familiarity with vehicle-level EE architecture and expertise in automotive electronic testing tools such as CANoe, vSpy, and Wireshark.
  • Familiarity with automation tools including Jenkins.
  • Reliable and pragmatic working style, with strong oral and written communication skills, especially in English.
  • Experience successfully developing difficult bench project with high levels of ambiguity.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Strong expertise of ADAS/AD sensors and its simulation solutions, preferably proven experience of camera simulation using dSPACE ESI solution.
  • Proven experience of simulation toolchain development, especially in LogSim, cloud based SIL simulation areas, excellent programming skills in C++ and Python.
  • Knowledge and experience with Replay HIL use case, application, and development.
  • Expertise with ASAM simulation standard, deep understanding of OpenX format definition and implementation.
