Group Product Manager, Core Experiences
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Technical/Innovation Center in Mountain View (CA) or Warren (MI) three times per week, at minimum. This position can be located at either of these 2 locations.
The Software & Services division of General Motors is responsible for defining and delivering the software, electrical hardware, and services that enable and support GM vehicles. The Role
As our Group Product Manager for Core Experiences, you will lead a team of product managers responsible for user experiences across vehicle, mobile, and web platforms. Your role involves understanding your problem space and defining and executing on a vision and strategy to deliver delightful and impactful user experiences.
You and your team will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from brainstorming the next product innovation to working directly with designers and engineers to implement features. You will use your full range of product development skills to produce elegantly simple features while leaning into your strategic mindset to ensure we’re capturing the most impactful opportunities.
The team works in partnership with a strong cross-functional team of design, engineering, and program leaders, as well as key stakeholders including other product teams, OnStar, privacy, sales, marketing, customer and dealer experiences.
Being passionate about understanding and living user experiences, leveraging data to drive decisions, leading in ambiguity, and thriving in fast-paced environments while learning quickly are all crucial for the success of this position.
What You’ll Do

Lead a team of 3-4 product managers solving complex problems in the core experience space related to vehicle and user connected services, onboarding, activation, offboarding and setup for GM vehicles globally.

Own the long-term, end-to-end product vision for the onboarding, setup, and offboarding.

Develop and implement strategies that ensure users have simple, delightful first minute, first hour, first day, first week experiences with their vehicles.

Influence and lead a cross-functional team of stakeholders encompassing Legal, Design,
Engineering, Program, and Product Managers to create intuitive customer experiences that meet customer and business needs. -
Actively monitor emerging trends, incorporate data, research, and market analysis to inform, define, prioritize, and drive execution of product roadmap that spans vehicle onboarding and setup.

Help drive a data-driven culture and establish and monitor key metrics to measure the effectiveness of initiatives.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

7+ years working on technology-powered digital products as a product manager

Experience directly managing or mentoring teams of product managers

Experience driving buy-in and ability to execute across product, program, design, engineering and other

Ability to identify key data and metrics required to make decisions and implications of their movement

Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to all stakeholders

Demonstrated expertise in writing, with the ability to effectively balance and integrate vision, strategy, and technical details in a cohesive narrative
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Relevant educational background (MBA, Computer Science, etc.)

8+ years of digital/software product management experience

3+ years of experience directly managing teams of product managers

Experience leading digital products from a setup standpoint (consumer electronics, automotive, other relevant industries)

Understanding or experience with vehicles and/or connected experiences
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

The salary range for this role is $168,000 to $258,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
