The Role
The Staff Product Manager – Experience Prototyping is a senior individual contributor responsible for early-stage, high-impact customer experiences across web, mobile, and in-vehicle touchpoints. This role is accountable for shaping vision, strategy, and execution for prototype-based experiments that de-risk big bets, prove out new capabilities and inform the future roadmap for core product teams.
You will be part of a group of product managers and work closely with design, engineering, data, legal/privacy, core product managers, and vehicle program teams to turn ambiguous opportunities into validated prototypes, learnings, and clear recommendations for scale.
What You’ll Do
- Lead from start to finish as the single-point product manager driving dynamic prototype experience projects
- Partner with key stakeholders - engineering, design, operations, marketing, product, business, and external partners to align on strategy, priorities, and success metrics.
- Drive the creation of artifacts to use as alignment tools
- Prioritize tasks, managing tradeoffs to focus work on the most important items
- Establish success metrics and measurements used to determine project success
- Determine key deliverables and timelines, reporting out on any risks and project status
- Own team meetings, cadence and attendee’s
- Use data, telemetry, customer feedback, and market insights to drive informed product decisions and continuous improvements.
- Champion user-centered design practices, including defining user personas, scenarios, and success metrics, and supporting user research activities.
- Facilitate working sessions and reviews using written artifacts as the primary mechanism for clarity, accountability, and execution.
- Be hands on, offering a helping hand to engineering and design as needed, lead product demos in various functions
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Human-Machine Interaction , or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of product management experience
- Demonstrated experience shipping or prototyping digital experiences across mobile, web, and/or in-vehicle or embedded systems .
- Proven track record turning ambiguous problem spaces into clear strategies, roadmaps, and execution plans.
- Strong ability to collaborate with engineering, design, and cross functional peers to define scope, tradeoffs, and technical approaches.
- Demonstrated excellence in written product communication , including product vision documents, product strategy narratives, PRDs, and executive-level briefs.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data and metrics to guide prioritization and measure success.
- Experienced in conducting customer interviews, research, clinics and other means of gathering customer insights to make product decisions.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- 10+ years of experience in automotive, embedded systems, or 0 – 1 product launches.
- Experience in Prototyping, Proof of concepts or Research & Development
- Experience managing multiple products in the early stages of product development , including managing customer-facing trade-offs and transition planning.
- Familiarity with in-vehicle software ecosystems, infotainment systems, or connected vehicle platforms, including hardware architecture.
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.
• The salary range for this role is 159,400 and 245,700. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Company vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, though which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate.
