Work Classification:
Hybrid: The successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum, or as dictated by the business.
The Team:
The SDV Infrastructure Calibration Organization owns the delivery of all SDV infrastructure calibrations across GM. We ensure every platform, domain, and feature has the foundational calibration content required for safe, intelligent, and reliable operation.
We are also building the next generation of calibration automation — intelligent agents, automated workflows, and scalable systems that transform calibration from a manual engineering task into a software‑driven capability.
We blend calibration domain knowledge with modern software, data, and AI thinking. We move quickly, solve complex problems, and build the tools that will define how calibration is delivered in the SDV era.
The Role:
We are looking for an engineer who understands infrastructure software and can apply software, data, and AI techniques to the calibration space. This role requires someone who can analyze how calibrations work, determine how they should be applied across vehicle and cosim variants, and build automation that delivers them reliably and at scale.
You will work at the intersection of calibration, embedded software, diagnostics, data pipelines, and intelligent automation. Your work will directly enable fast, accurate, and repeatable calibration delivery across the enterprise.
What You’ll Do:
-
Analyze infrastructure calibrations to understand structure, intent, dependencies, and program applicability
-
Build automation and intelligent workflows that determine correct calibration settings for each program and variant
-
Develop tools, scripts, and AI‑assisted systems that generate, validate, and deliver calibration content
-
Own calibration delivery for cosim variants, vehicle variants, and SDV programs
-
Create infrastructure components that support calibration automation, including data pipelines, diagnostic interfaces, and communication layers
-
Work across microcontroller platforms, communication stacks, and diagnostic frameworks
-
Validate calibration behavior through simulation, cosim, and bench testing
-
Identify patterns, rules, and constraints that can be automated or learned by intelligent systems
-
Collaborate with calibrators, software engineers, and platform teams to ensure calibration readiness
-
Continuously improve calibration workflows, infrastructure, and automation capabilities
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Controls, or related field
-
5+ years of experience in infrastructure software, embedded systems, calibration, or automation
-
Strong understanding of calibration workflows, vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet), and diagnostics (UDS, GMW)
-
Experience with embedded software systems, microcontroller architectures, and infrastructure‑level software
-
Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages
-
Ability to analyze complex systems and derive calibration rules, constraints, and dependencies
-
Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
-
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver in a fast‑moving environment
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
-
Master’s degree in engineering or computer science
-
6–8+ years of experience in calibration infrastructure or SDV‑related software
-
Experience building automated calibration tools, ML‑based calibration systems, or agent‑based workflows
-
Familiarity with cloud‑connected calibration workflows or OTA ecosystems
-
Experience with large‑scale data processing, rule extraction, or automated validation
-
Background in diagnostics, communication stacks, or regulatory calibration requirements
-
Experience leading cross‑functional technical efforts
Who Thrives Here:
-
Engineers who think like software developers but understand calibration intent
-
People who can reverse‑engineer complex systems and automate them
-
Those who enjoy building intelligent tools that eliminate manual work
-
Engineers who want to define how calibration is delivered in the SDV era
