Work Arrangement:
This role is categorized as Onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Oshawa Assembly Plant five times per week at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role:
The GSC Coordinator co‑op will support the Oshawa Assembly material office in managing data, scrap, obsolescence, and material‑flow standards. This role is ideal for a business, supply chain, or data‑focused student who enjoys working with numbers, investigating root causes, and improving processes in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Data & KPI Support
-
Run regular MGO data pulls to support material, scrap, and obsolescence reporting.

Build and maintain Excel and Power BI reports and dashboards for key GSC KPIs (e.g., scrap, obsolete inventory, segregation/audit metrics, seal log performance).

Validate data quality and ensure clean inputs for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.

Standard Work, Documentation & AI Use Cases
-
Document and maintain standard work, job aids, and TIS updates for GSC office processes (e.g., scrap admin, seal log, audits, reporting).
-
Capture and organize AI use cases (e.g., Glean, Power BI Copilot) that simplify repetitive tasks and improve data accessibility.

Create clear “how‑to” guides for SharePoint, Glean, and other material office tools.
-
Scrap Administration & Investigation
-
Administer scrap system access, including granting access and managing tag ownership requests.
-
Monitor and follow up on overdue scrap tags to drive timely closure.
-
Lead or support GSC‑owned scrap investigations, including data extraction, root‑cause analysis, and concise summary of findings for review with leaders and finance.
Obsolete Material Management
-
Investigate obsolete and at‑risk materials using MGO, physical checks, and cross‑functional input.
-
Summarize exposure, trends, and drivers, and support action plans to reduce or prevent future obsolescence.

Prepare regular obsolete inventory reports for the business plan board and leadership reviews.

Standards, Audits & Compliance
-
Conduct and document Global Manufacturing Standard material‑segregation audits in the plant and material areas.
-
Track findings, follow up on corrective actions, and provide simple summaries of results and trends.

Business Plan & Logistics Support
-
Own the monthly business plan board administration for GSC (data refresh, charts, action tracking, and meeting readiness).
-
Maintain the transportation seal log, ensuring accurate entries, reconciliations, and follow‑up on discrepancies with the appropriate stakeholders.
Ownership & initiative
-
Takes end‑to‑end ownership of tasks (e.g., scrap tags, obsolete investigations, seal logs) without constant follow‑up.

Analytical & detail orientation
-
Strong attention to detail when working with large datasets, ensuring clean inputs and accurate KPIs.
-
Comfortable digging into root causes (scrap, obsolescence, segregation misses) and summarizing findings.
-
Communication & collaboration
-
Able to work with material coordinators, group leaders, operations, and finance to gather information and close actions.
Process & continuous improvement mindset
-
Interested in standardizing and simplifying recurring work (job aids, TIS updates, SharePoint/Glean how‑tos).

Uses data to identify waste and propose simple changes to improve flow or reduce scrap/obsolescence.

Learning agility & AI curiosity
-
Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools (e.g., Glean, Power BI Copilot) and willingness to experiment under guidance.

Learns plant systems and standards (MGO, GMS, segregation standards) quickly and applies them consistently.
Required Qualifications:
-
Pursuit of a Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Data Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent

Able to work 40 hours per week in Canada and for 8, or 12 month term (consecutive semesters) starting September 2026
Nice to Have (Preferred)
-
Previous co‑op, internship, or project work in manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain.
-
Strong Excel skills (sorting/filtering, pivot tables, basic formulas; comfortable working with large datasets).

Exposure to or coursework in Power BI (building basic reports, using existing data models).
-
Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain concepts (inventory, material flow, scrap, obsolescence, logistics).
-
Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to summarize analysis and follow up with material coordinators, GLs, and finance partners.

Soft Skills & Working Style
-
Experience with SharePoint lists/sites or other collaboration tools.
-
Experience building simple Power BI dashboards from scratch.
The salary range for this role is $4264- $4784 CAD. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
