The Role:
We are seeking an EMTS (Engineering Maintenance & Technical Support) Technician to support daily operations involving instrumentation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and systems within the Warren Root Cause & Warranty Center. This facility specializes in battery technologies, including testing and analysis of cells, modules, and full vehicle battery packs. You will help develop procedures, maintain existing test equipment, and support new equipment launches.
This role requires strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, along with the ability to work independently and within a cross‑functional team. You will collaborate with experts in electrical and mechanical systems, controls, diagnostics, and repair.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):
In this role, you will:

Troubleshooting and repair of all items making up the test cell facility, including DC battery cyclers, thermal chambers, RO water systems, chillers, load banks, I/O racks, High Voltage monitoring systems, gas detection, low-voltage vehicle harnesses

Fabricating and wiring specialty equipment with or without drawings using existing and purchased parts where necessary.

Equipment preventive and predictive maintenance work

Follow all corporate safety standards and site safety policies (g-Risk, g-Comply, PTP, Lockout, chemical management, etc.)

Effectively work both independently as well as with multi-disciplined teams to understand functional requirements and implement appropriate solutions.

Generate technical solutions for current and future projects & equipment.

Write standard work for maintenance tasks as well as repair tasks, including Pre-Task Plans.

Understand and work to timelines and milestones for projects/assignments to meet the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.

Utilize strong oral and written communication skills to communicate complex material.

Utilize strong organization skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
-
Actively identify new areas for learning and take advantage of learning opportunities.

Focus on continuous improvement for existing equipment and processes.

Provide support for current test equipment, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and development of new test setups and configurations in support of new test requirements.
Your Skills & Abilities ( Required Qualifications)
-
Associate degree or equivalent experience in an electrical-related field (circuit level, machine controls/maintenance, high voltage, commercial electrical, etc.) and/or HVAC/R certifications

3-5+ years of electrical and/or mechanical hands-on experience and capability
-
Must be comfortable working on 480VAC and 1600VDC systems, potentially while energized and understand associated risk reduction techniques.

Able to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.

Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain refrigeration systems

Experience with environmental chambers, chillers, or other HVAC‑based thermal control systems

Ability to problem solve in an environment where problems are complex and challenging.

Ability to use MS Office Suite tools: Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

Experience in launching new equipment and processes.

Experience with GM purchasing processes and Maximo System.

Experience in high voltage electrical systems.

Familiarity with GM Workplace Safety Systems Elements (SCM, MOC, SIF, Risk Identification, PTP)

EPA 608 Certification for thermal chamber servicing
