描述
Join our team of passionate engineers that work on some of the most thought-provoking automated driving problems in the industry! We are motivated by a solving problem the industry has yet to solve.
We are looking for a System Engineer to support the design, procurement, and configuration of hardware for our prototype and test fleets. This role ensures the right components, designs, and revisions come together at the right time to build high‑quality development vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Support component design and fabrication, including sheet metal, aluminum, composites, and advanced 3D-printed parts.
- Develop CAD models for brackets, mounts, and housings to support sensors, ECUs, and harnesses.
- Ensure designs meet structural integrity, crashworthiness, and manufacturability standards.
- Maintain system configuration baselines, interface definitions, and integration requirements for vehicle builds.
- Translate evolving AV architecture needs into actionable build requirements, dependencies, and timing constraints.
- Interface with CAD‑based architecture teams to ensure sensor placement strategies, mounting provisions, and harness routing constraints are reflected in build plans.
- Support hardware ordering for upcoming builds, including sensors, 3Dprints, harnessing, brackets, and fabricated components.
- Track lead times, supplier commitments, delivery status, and material risks to ensure critical components are in hand before build execution.
- Support BOM updates, part revisions, alternates, and substitutions as designs mature.
- Ensure integration plans reflect design intent for sensor housings, brackets, mounts, and harness supports, including considerations for waterproofing, EMI shielding, thermal management, vibration isolation, and serviceability.
- Provide input on manufacturability, structural requirements, routing constraints, and component accessibility.
- Prepare end‑to‑end hardware rollout plans, aligning engineering teams, prototype build shops, integration labs, and field readiness groups.
- Coordinate installation sequencing to ensure correct fitment, interface alignment, and version compatibility.
- Maintain detailed revision control for hardware, ensuring each vehicle is built to the correct configuration baseline.
- Support vehicle checkout processes to validate build quality, system alignment, and readiness for engineering and safety requirements.
- Develop installation guides, retrofit instructions, and field update packages for existing prototype assets.
- Ensure fielded vehicles remain aligned with current configurations, hardware revisions, and quality standards.
- Support triage of hardware issues uncovered during testing—identifying root causes and driving corrective actions to closure.
- Communicate build status, hardware risks, dependencies, and material readiness to program leadership and cross‑functional partners.
- Coordinate with perception and software teams where sensor coverage, placement, or architecture dependencies impact build execution.
- Capture lessons learned from each build cycle and feed them back into system design guidance, procurement planning, configuration standards, and build workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve documentation workflows, material tracking systems, and build process efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in system design, fabrication, and build execution.
- Proven expertise in CAD-based design for sensor placement, harness routing, and component fabrication.
- Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials engineering, and harness design.
- Strong cross functional communication skills.
- DFSS Black Belt certification
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.
- Hands-on experience with vehicle prototyping, CAD-driven sensor integration, and deployment.
