The Role

At General Motors, supporting customers throughout a product’s lifecycle requires thoughtful decisions about service, supply, and product availability. As a Product Manager, Propulsion Lifecycle Operations, you will develop lifecycle plans for propulsion products that support Customer Care and Aftersales (CCA). You will evaluate strategies such as all-time buys, bridge buys until remanufacturing is available, and new-build engine options. Working across product, engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams, you will turn complex inputs into clear recommendations and executable plans that support customers and GM’s long-term service needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop lifecycle plans for propulsion products that support CCA service needs.
  • Evaluate lifecycle options—including all-time buys, bridge buys, remanufacturing transitions, and new-build engines—and recommend an approach based on customer, business, technical, and supply considerations.
  • Analyze product, supplier, manufacturing, cost, quality, timing, and technical inputs to identify trade-offs, risks, and decision points.
  • Prepare recommendations, business cases, and decision materials for cross-functional partners and leadership.
  • Partner with CCA Product, CCA and OE Engineering, propulsion assembly plants, and external suppliers to align plans and resolve issues
  • Coordinate lifecycle milestones, dependencies, and readiness activities across stakeholders.
  • Support the transition from the selected lifecycle strategy into execution, including sourcing, remanufacturing, or new-build readiness.
  • Monitor changing conditions and update plans as customer needs, technical readiness, or supply availability evolve.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, operations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in product management, product lifecycle management, service or aftermarket, manufacturing, supply chain, program management, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating work across multiple functions or organizations to deliver a product, service, or business outcome.
  • Ability to assess information, weigh customer and business trade-offs, and develop clear, data-informed recommendations.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt plans as business needs change.

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with propulsion systems, engines, remanufacturing, warranty, service parts, or aftermarket support.
  • Experience working with engineering, manufacturing plants, suppliers, or sourcing teams on physical products.
  • Experience developing product roadmaps, lifecycle plans, phase-in or phase-out strategies, or obsolescence plans.
  • Experience building business cases, cost models, forecasts, or scenario analyses.
  • Familiarity with ERP, product lifecycle management, or data-visualization tools such as SAP, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Project or program management certification, Lean Six Sigma training, or a related certification.
  • Experience in automotive, heavy equipment, aerospace, energy, or industrial manufacturing.
