Job Description
We are seeking a high-performing, self-driven Senior Systems Engineer to join the Systems Engineering team, focused on vehicle display systems. In this role, Head-Up Display (HUD) and Display Articulation features will be your primary areas of responsibility.
You will be responsible for translating product intent into robust, testable system solutions using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality display experiences by leading system-level definition, decomposition, and integration of HUD and articulated display features across software, electronics, optics, mechanical components, and virtual environments.
You will work closely with design, software, mechanical, validation, UX, and platform engineering teams to ensure display features integrate seamlessly into vehicle programs.
What You’ll Do
- Own system-level architecture, design, and integration for HUD and Display Articulation features within the vehicle display domain.
- Decompose product and program requirements into system models, functional architectures, and testable software, electrical, optical, and mechanical requirements.
- Develop and maintain system blueprints, including functional decomposition, logical architecture, interface definitions, requirements, allocations, and system-level FMEAs.
- Own and evolve MBSE artifacts, such as functional models, interface definitions, activity, use-case, and context diagrams.
- Allocate and partition HUD and display articulation functionality to implementation teams, supporting architectural trade studies and optimization.
- Define, develop, and maintain co-simulation and virtual validation environments and acceptance criteria for display features.
- Work directly with software, hardware, optics, and mechanical teams to ensure alignment with platform constraints, UX guidelines, and system interfaces.
- Support integration, calibration, validation, and issue resolution for HUD and display articulation features, including root cause analysis.
- Ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, quality, and performance standards, supporting certification and approval activities.
- Drive continuous improvement in MBSE adoption, system modeling quality, and virtual validation capability.
- Document technical deliverables and support program milestones across the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- System modeling and architecture definition using MBSE
- Functional decomposition and end-to-end requirement traceability
- Change control and architectural allocation for HUD and display articulation features
- Co-simulation strategy definition and system-level validation planning
- Definition of acceptance criteria and “definition of done” for display feature deliverables
- Cross-functional technical leadership and stakeholder alignment
Technical Focus & Capabilities
- Strong system-level understanding of vehicle display systems, with direct responsibility for HUD and display articulation features.
- Knowledge of HUD fundamentals, including optics, image generation, alignment, calibration, ghosting, distortion, brightness, and field-of-view.
- Understanding of display articulation systems, including actuation mechanisms, position sensing, control logic, fault handling, and safety interlocks.
- Familiarity with display electronics and interfaces (LVDS, Ethernet, CAN, LIN) and related diagnostics.
- Experience with display bring-up, calibration, and validation, including environmental and vehicle-level testing.
- Ability to define and manage system-level performance requirements such as latency, resolution, brightness, power, and thermal behavior.
- Experience performing system-level FMEAs, fault detection, and graceful degradation for display features.
- Strong understanding of software–hardware–mechanical interactions affecting display behavior and customer experience.
- Exposure to virtual validation and co-simulation for early feature and architecture assessment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Software, Mechanical, or related field).
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or software-intensive automotive development.
- Strong expertise in systems architecture, MBSE, requirements development, integration, and validation.
- Solid background in model-based development and virtual simulation.
- Proficiency with MBSE and requirements tools (e.g., Rhapsody, DOORS / DOORS Next).
- Ability to work through complex, ambiguous technical problems.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across disciplines.
- Strong communication and execution skills.
