설명

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

The Thermal Systems Simulation Integration Engineer plays a critical role in advancing the transition to virtual engineering by leading the integration of full-vehicle, cross-functional co-simulation models with a focus on Thermal Systems and related domains. This role is responsible for enabling high-fidelity, system-level simulation capabilities that support faster, data-driven engineering decisions.

This is a highly collaborative position, requiring partnership across Vehicle Design, Development & Validation (VDDV), Vehicle Performance, Validation, SMT, and VMEC teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment of simulation tools and methodologies.

As part of an emerging and rapidly evolving space, success in this role requires a passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and the ability to navigate and influence across complex technical landscapes.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead delivery of integrated co-simulation packages to enable virtual thermal systems design, development, and validation

  • Lead resolution of program issues by rallying co-simulation partners to meet the demands of the problem

  • Advocate for adoption of virtual methods for vehicle design, development, and validation

  • Act as a single point of contact for Co-simulation users for thermal systems to resolve concerns on usage

  • Forecast and plan needs and get support for required resources

  • Define strategic opportunities for innovating processes and methods

  • Align with software releases and calibration milestones to ensure the virtual vehicle co-simulation package is up to date

  • Ensure Cosim packages meet standards as defined by the SIE governance team

  • Represent the needs of thermal systems among SIE peers from other disciplines

What You’ll Need (Required Qualifications)

  • BS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with 1D and 3D thermal systems plant models, including virtual controllers, with demonstrated ability to align plant, control strategies, and system-level integration.

  • Familiarity with system tools or controls integration CAE tools such as GT Power, AMESIM, Carsim, Carmarker, MATLAB/Simulink or other similar CAE tools.

  • Proven ability to work in teams, balancing technical theory with practical limitations.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • MS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Familiarity with version control systems (VCS) tools like Git.

  • Familiarity with simulation data management (SDM) systems like Teamcenter.

  • Familiarity with CFD tools such as STAR-CCM+, FLUENT, SIMERICS etc.

  • Ability to characterize thermal systems using 3D tools such as CFD and creating and implementing 1D plant models of the underlying components and subsystems.

  • Practical automotive experience - Building, restoring, modifying; Performance driving schools.
