About the Role

The Corporate Common Components (CCC) Engineering Group Manager is a highly visible leadership role responsible for advancing GM’s enterprise-wide component reuse strategy. This leader will oversee the CCC portfolio and drive the reuse of common components across vehicle programs, architectures, and manufacturing plants to reduce engineering effort, improve quality, optimize capital investment, and accelerate time to market.

The role serves as a central integrator across Product Engineering, Program Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Finance, Software-Defined Vehicle, AVDC, and Vehicle SMT organizations. The leader will align strategy, governance, funding, sourcing, change management, and supplier resiliency activities to deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead GM’s corporate common component strategy and increase component reuse across vehicle programs.

  • Translate enterprise reuse objectives into actionable plans, governance, processes, metrics, and operating models.

  • Lead end-to-end execution of the CCC portfolio, including core bill of material strategy, funding approvals, capital planning, sourcing alignment, engineering change management, and deployment across programs and plants.

  • Prepare and manage annual appropriation requests, capital funding requests, business cases, forecasts, and return-on-investment analyses.

  • Partner with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, finance, and program teams to align on common solutions and execution priorities.

  • Chair governance forums and drive decisions related to timing, cost, quality, funding, technical risk, and program readiness.

  • Resolve complex cross-functional issues affecting vehicle programs, supplier readiness, and product launches.

  • Lead the continued transformation of CCC into a results-driven enterprise reuse organization.

  • Improve accountability, role clarity, performance measurement, and business impact reporting.

  • Build team capability and reduce manual work through automation, analytics, and process improvements.

  • Manage cross-program engineering changes and shared component deployment, including ECRs, breakpoints, stacked changes, and implementation timing.

  • Partner with Purchasing to strengthen supplier resiliency, mitigate risk, and support resourcing activities when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.

  • At least 10 years of experience in engineering, product development, design release, systems integration, program execution, or a related discipline.

  • Experience leading cross-functional programs or organizations in a complex product development environment.

  • Experience with capital planning, business case development, funding approvals, or financial analysis.

  • Experience in program execution, sourcing, manufacturing, launch, or lifecycle support.

  • Experience leading governance activities and making decisions with senior-level stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Proficiency with Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, and digital collaboration tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, create structure, establish accountability, and deliver measurable results.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Program Engineering Manager or in a comparable engineering leadership role.

  • Experience with corporate common components, core bill of material strategies, component reuse, or portfolio management.

  • Master of Business Administration or demonstrated strength in finance and business planning.

  • Experience with capital allocation, supplier resiliency, purchasing, or manufacturing operations.

  • Experience with Jira, Power Automate, artificial intelligence, analytics, or process automation tools.

Why This Role Matters

This position has enterprise-wide visibility and influence across GM’s global vehicle portfolio. Success in this role will contribute to:

  • Improved vehicle development efficiency and engineering productivity.

  • Optimized capital investment and reduced total vehicle cost.

  • Increased product quality and component commonality.
