설명
At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.
Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.
The Role
As a Controls Integration Engineer (CIE) in the Product Integration (PI) Team, you will play a key role in automating vehicle electrical controls system test scripts running on subsystem test benches to improve efficiency, speed, and reliability across our product development lifecycle. You will build and scale automated test capabilities for integration teams while continuing to support daily subsystem integration and issue triage activities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in hands-on environments, enjoys solving complex cross‑functional problems, and is driven to streamline how vehicle feature/functions are tested and validated.
This CIE / PI position is directly aligned with the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Architecture bring‑up and will focus on building a functional, scalable platform that supports both EV and ICE programs. You will be responsible for transforming integration tests into automated workflows, enabling early defect detection, faster test iteration cycles, and improved SW functional quality. This is a highly technical role that requires comfort working across deeply interconnected vehicle control systems and tackling challenges that span the entire electrical/software ecosystem.
What You'll Do
-
Build a comprehensive automation test strategy for your assign feature/functional product space, partnering closely with HW & SW development engineering and tools development groups.
-
Create and implement automation tests on SDV subsystem benches, including documentation, simulation scripts, and training on how the test is performed and expected results to share with other team members.
-
Convert manual integration test cases into automated test suites to accelerate defect discovery, standard work execution and assess SW reliability
-
Collaborate with development engineering teams, product teams, and PMO to confirm test requirements, triage issues, define defects clearly, and ensure alignment on resolution paths.
-
Document and track defects using Jira/PRTS with clear, actionable detail and data logs.
-
Learn, understand, and become a subject-matter expert in SDV CCU/Farm/IVI Architecture and its application across GM programs.
-
Provide advanced expertise in both bench (subsystem)‑level and system‑level test automation.
-
Leverage existing automation frameworks and tools to improve test efficiency, quality and consistency.
-
Perform root cause analysis using data generated during automated testing, identifying patterns and driving corrective actions and design improvements.
-
Drive permanent fixes into the CI/CD pipeline to eliminate recurring issues and improve future VeSCoM stability and performance.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
-
5+ years of experience in automation testing and/or control system testing within the automotive domain
-
Proficiency in Python for test scripting and automation
-
Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to contextualize issues and identify trends from data
-
