설명

Role Summary

Develop and release reusable model-based simulation capabilities for electric-vehicle power electronics and high-voltage systems. This role will build, integrate, validate, document, and maintain component, plant, and system models for inverters, integrated power electronics (IPE), accessory power modules (APM), onboard charger modules (OBCM), power inverter modules (PIM), charging systems, and high-voltage buses.

The engineer will work across power electronics, controls, software, validation, electrical architecture, and vehicle systems teams to deliver reliable co-simulation and virtual capabilities. These capabilities will enable earlier design decisions, accelerate issue resolution, and improve prediction accuracy.

The role also includes targeted power-electronics and high-voltage system analysis to improve model fidelity and support hardware, controls, calibration, validation, supplier, and program decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Assignment: Power-Electronics Virtualization and Co-Simulation

  • Develop, update, document, and release reusable IPE, plant, and component models representing APM, OBCM, PIM, charging, discharging, and related power electronics functions.
  • Support model architecture, variant strategy, initialization, signal naming, interface definition, and alignment among in-house models, supplier models, electrical architecture, controls, and CoSIM teams.
  • Investigate and resolve model and integration issues involving signal mismatches, voltage and current reporting, relay and precharge behavior, derating, fault handling, thermal interactions, and charging or discharging functionality.
  • Provide recommendations for product and process enhancements based on analysis insights.
  • Establish practical model release, regression-test, defect-triage, and documentation practices that improve reliability.
  • Develop standard work, scripts, automated workflows, analytical tools, and, where appropriate, AI/ML-enabled capabilities that improve engineering speed, accuracy, repeatability, and reuse.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams, suppliers, and stakeholders throughout development to deliver simulation capabilities that support design decisions and program milestone readiness.

Secondary Assignment: Power-Electronics Analysis and Capability

  • Perform inverter, converter, power-electronics, and high-voltage bus analyses to evaluate efficiency, losses, thermal performance, ripple, resonance, stability, EMC/EMI, transient response, and system-level performance.
  • Evaluate the effects of controls, modulation, calibration, component changes, filters, cooling approaches, and alternative architectures on product performance and validation results.
  • Provide analysis-based recommendations that support requirements, component and system design, controls, validation, supplier assessment, technical issue resolution, and virtualization.
  • Contribute reusable analysis methods, models, scripts, and documentation that expand team capability and improve consistency across programs.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience in power electronics, electrified vehicles, model-based engineering, simulation integration, controls, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience developing, integrating, validating, debugging, correlating, or releasing MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent engineering models.
  • Experience debugging model interfaces, initialization, variants, numerical behavior, or system-integration issues.
  • Experience using Python, MATLAB, or another scripting language for automation, analysis, data processing, or testing.
  • Working knowledge of power conversion, inverter operation, electric drives, and high-voltage vehicle systems.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage bus behavior, ripple, resonance, filtering, transient response, thermal limits, and system-level integration.
  • Ability to correlate simulation results with bench, dyno, vehicle, supplier, or other physical-test data.
  • Ability to apply structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis to product, model, software, controls, or vehicle-level issues.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to present technical findings clearly to engineering and program stakeholders.
  • Ability to contribute to standard work, engineering deliverable reviews, technical documentation, and team knowledge sharing.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent discipline, preferably focused on power electronics, power systems, electric drives, power semiconductors, or systems modeling. Ph.D. is a plus.
  • Five or more years of experience in model-based systems engineering, power electronics, electrified vehicles, engineering virtualization, controls, or a related field.
  • Experience with integrated power-electronics architecture, variant commonization, modularization, and reusable modeling strategies.
  • Experience with GM or comparable simulation and integration environments.
  • Experience with FMI/FMU, SIL, HIL, real-time simulation, virtual calibration, or automated regression testing.
  • Experience with plant-model development, virtual ECU integration, model-release workflows, or vehicle-level co-simulation.
  • Experience with charging, bidirectional power flow, precharge, high-voltage protection, fault insertion, thermal management, or electrical energy management.
  • Experience with EMC/EMI considerations in power-electronics modules and electrified-vehicle systems.
  • Experience evaluating supplier simulation models, technical deliverables, model quality, or acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with inverter firmware, embedded software, controls development, calibration, or production-software integration.
  • Experience applying data analytics, optimization, or AI/ML methods to engineering design, validation, or virtualization problems.
