Your Role:

The Maintenance Manager leads plant maintenance and reliability activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment. The role applies preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance principles together with GM Manufacturing System tools to improve safety, quality, cost, delivery, equipment availability, and employee engagement. The Maintenance Manager develops maintenance capability, leads structured problem-solving, and delivers measurable improvements in equipment reliability, downtime reduction, and total cost of ownership.

What You'll Do:

Lead daily maintenance operations across manufacturing equipment, production systems, utilities, and facility infrastructure to support safe and uninterrupted plant operation.
Establish and maintain preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies aligned with equipment criticality, operating requirements, and business priorities.
Lead rapid response to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions; prioritize work based on safety, quality, delivery, and business impact.
Track, analyze, and report equipment availability, unplanned downtime, mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), planned maintenance compliance, and maintenance cost performance.
Facilitate structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis for top downtime contributors, chronic equipment failures, and repeat maintenance issues.
Lead reliability improvement initiatives, including failure-mode analysis, bad-actor elimination, defect elimination, and maintenance strategy optimization.
Partner with manufacturing, engineering, quality, industrial engineering, safety, and production control teams to improve equipment capability, line performance, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Develop and maintain maintenance operating plans, staffing plans, shift coverage, escalation processes, and standards of work to ensure effective support of production demand.
Plan and control maintenance workload through a risk-based backlog management process, ensuring timely completion of corrective, preventive, and predictive work orders.
Manage the maintenance budget, labor utilization, contractor spending, spare-parts consumption, and cost-reduction opportunities while protecting equipment reliability and safety.
Manage critical spare parts, repairable assets, tooling, consumables, and supplier support to minimize equipment recovery time and avoid production disruption.
Lead maintenance input for new equipment installation, commissioning, launch readiness, process changes, and equipment modifications.
Ensure maintainability, reliability, safety, and standardization are incorporated into capital projects and equipment improvement activities.
Maintain compliance with applicable GM standards, plant procedures, environmental requirements, electrical and machine-safety requirements, and regulatory obligations.
Lead contractor and supplier performance for maintenance services, equipment repairs, technical support, and warranty or cost-recovery activities.
Use maintenance and business systems to manage asset records, work orders, preventive-maintenance plans, downtime history, spare parts, and performance reporting.
Coach, develop, and engage salaried and hourly maintenance employees in safe work practices, technical problem-solving, reliability methods, and continuous improvement.
Build a strong maintenance culture focused on proactive work, ownership, standard work, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Evaluate and implement employee improvement suggestions that improve safety, reliability, maintainability, cost, and equipment performance.
Support plant emergency response, business continuity, and recovery plans related to equipment, utilities, and facility disruptions.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualification)

Educational and Experience Background:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 8 years of experience in plant maintenance, equipment reliability, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical field, including leadership responsibility.
Experience leading maintenance operations in an automotive, high-volume manufacturing, assembly, logistics, or similarly complex industrial environment.
Proven experience managing preventive, predictive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance programs.
Demonstrated history of reducing equipment downtime, improving reliability, and delivering measurable safety, quality, cost, or productivity benefits.
Experience leading technical teams, contractors, and cross-functional improvement activities.
Experience managing maintenance budgets, spare parts, suppliers, and capital or equipment-improvement projects.

Technical Skills:

Maintenance strategy development, equipment criticality assessment, and reliability-centered maintenance principles.
Preventive and predictive maintenance methods, including lubrication, vibration, thermography, ultrasound, oil analysis, and condition monitoring, as applicable.
Equipment failure analysis, FMEA, fault-tree analysis, 5 Whys, Fishbone, A3 problem solving, and other root-cause analysis methods.
Maintenance performance measures, including OEE, availability, MTBF, MTTR, planned maintenance compliance, schedule compliance, and maintenance cost per unit.
CMMS systems for asset management, work-order planning, preventive maintenance, backlog control, inventory, and reporting.
Electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, controls, PLC, and industrial automation systems, with the ability to guide technical troubleshooting and escalation.
Maintenance planning and scheduling, job plans, standard work, shutdown planning, and resource loading.
Spare-parts strategy, inventory optimization, repairable asset management, and supplier technical support.
Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools, including 5S, Kaizen, TPM, visual management, standard work, and waste elimination.
Project management for equipment installation, modifications, commissioning, and launch readiness.
Machine safeguarding, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, contractor safety, and applicable environmental and regulatory requirements.
Microsoft Office, Power BI, and Microsoft Power Apps; ability to analyze data and automate maintenance reporting and workflows.
