Work Arrangement ​ :This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office four times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role

Your primary responsibility is to 'get the product right' and deliver product designs that enable a flawless launch and can be manufactured at the lowest total enterprise cost.

Execute Checking Fixture Design Projects for GMNA region. Contribute by optimized designs in Unigraphics (NX) through your ingenious thinking & delivering quality Tools at our Manufacturing sites. Our organization provide opportunities to innovate, improve & encourages in challenging the status quo.Check Fixture Tools are utilized to Dimensionally validate the product & ensures right product moves in station across different GM plants which further helps the organization to meet customer passion. Check Fixture Engineers in India are experienced & capable of designing diverse Check Fixtures to meet the partner expectations

What You'll Do

  • Learn GM Global Standards for Designing the Check Fixtures

  • Analyze all the inputs for initiating the Design and with the knowledge on GD & T

  • Design the concept Tool aligning to Global Standards in Unigraphics (NX)

  • Completed Tool being reviewed with customer & changes are updated as per Feedback.

  • Manufacturing Drawings, Certification data & deliverables are generated.

  • Deliver the complete Tool package to GMNA or required manufacturing Site.

  • Flawless communication within team for project support & updates

  • Coordination of all GMNA Projects for Check Fixture Desigining

  • Understand the Project Scope & complete the resource planning to meet the delivery date.

  • Apply project management skills for monitoring and controlling project scope, issues, risks and schedule. Be an effective communicator to all stakeholders & team members.

  • Quality Check of completed Tool Design, Deliverables & provide suggestions for improvement.

  • Provide Productivity Improvement ideas & Encourage Team for the same.

  • Train New Engineers to develop their technical skills.

  • Review the Customer feedback & make action plan accordingly.

  • Drive RCA process for any issues reported from customer

  • Supplier billing/bundled hours approval.

  • Ensure to adhere GMS requirements

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

GM imparts training to the employee to improve upon the required skills that is needed to execute the specific job. The culture is that of learning, practicing, performing and then excelling. A quick and agile learner is the requisite for the job. The incumbent will learn all the requirements of the job, execute initially under mentorship and supervision and later own projects and deliver value to the organization. A typical Checking Fixture Engineer works on multiple projects in a year that supports launch of multiple car programs and add to the top line of the organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Automobile Engineering

  • 5 - 8 years’ experience in manufacturing industries, working for projects.

  • Good knowledge of Automotive Vehicle / Body In White Structure , Build Process and product launch

  • Good knowledge of Teamcenter, NX, Vismockup, AutoCAD, MS Project, and MS Office applications.

  • Good Understanding of GD&T.

  • Sound understanding of GVDP (Global Vehicle development processes) , Quality Chain & PFMEA.

  • Sound knowledge of Project Management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile)

  • Sound knowledge of GM-GMS (lean manufacturing processes) Principles and Workplace safety systems.

  • Ability to design work operations that meet safety, quality, and efficiency requirements

  • Ability to implement and coach Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles

  • Ability to work with intercultural, diverse & multi-disciplinary teams to achieve enterprise goals

  • Ability to manage multiple projects / assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results

  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/ self-directed.
