The Role:

We are seeking an engaging technical leader to join our Portfolio Planning & Business Transformation team within the Body Manufacturing Engineering organization.

As a Planning and Scheduling Development Engineer , you will serve as the business facing Functional Lead for the Tool Management and Control System (TMaCS). You will partner closely with IT and development teams to define, implement, and continuously improve planning and scheduling solutions that support operational goals.

In this role, you will act as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating operational needs into clear functional requirements and practical system solutions. You will identify process and system gaps, guide system functionality, and validate that enhancements meet user and business expectations through testing and adoption support.

With a strong focus on efficiency, accuracy, and cross‑functional collaboration, you will help advance planning and scheduling capabilities across the organization. You will also play a key role in supporting the migration from Microsoft Dynamics AX to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 cloud platform.

Five Areas of Responsibility:

One: Business Owner / Functional Lead – Tool Management and Control System (TMaCS)

  • Serve as Business Owner and Functional Lead for the Tool Management and Control System (TMaCS), supporting global planning and scheduling operations

  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering IT (ERP) to define and execute the long‑term functional roadmap aligned to GM operational objectives

  • Act as the primary business liaison between manufacturing stakeholders and IT development teams , ensuring business processes are accurately translated into digital solutions

  • Drive prioritization and functional direction for system enhancements, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives

Two: Functional Design & Project Execution

  • Lead requirements gathering, process definition, and conceptual modeling for TMaCS initiatives

  • Develop and maintain project scope, functional specifications, and business documentation

  • Create and manage User Stories, Functional Requirements, and Acceptance Criteria in alignment with GM development standards

  • Collaborate closely with developers and ERP Business Analysts to refine requirements and validate functional intent

  • Maintain functional artifacts and work items within Azure DevOps

Three: Validation, Testing & Change Management

  • Globally lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) across test and production environments

  • Create, maintain, assign, and execute test cases ; support UAT and smoke testing cycles

  • Review and retire test cases based on current business processes and solution maturity

  • Support Enterprise Change Management (ECM) activities and validations

  • Govern and maintain global user access lists and authorization reviews

  • Contribute to the definition and standardization of Planning & Scheduling business standards

Four: Deployment & Migration Support

  • Support global deployments, including:

    • Process integration and rollout readiness

    • Pilot execution and stabilization

    • System configuration and setup

    • Data and functionality migration

    • Gap analysis and cutover support

  • Provide go live and launch support for new functionality

  • Develop and maintain baseline training materials and job aids

  • Support the migration from Microsoft Dynamics AX to Dynamics 365 (D365) Cloud

Five: Post-Deployment & Operational Support

  • Conduct global business process reviews and functional assessments

  • Provide interpretation of data structures and system behavior to business users

  • Lead and support working sessions with regional teams on TMaCS setup and usage

  • Support user provisioning and AX/D365 security roles (as assigned)

  • Act as a subject‑matter resource for TMaCS usage, planning logic, and business processes

  • Drive consistency in global work processes and system usage

  • Lead global TMaCS user group meetings to share knowledge and best practices

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in discipline commensurate with the role (e.g., Information Technology, Business Information Systems, Finance, Engineering, or related field)

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and/or Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations preferred)

  • Project or program management experience

  • Working knowledge of enterprise IT processes, including:

    • Collaboration with Business Analysts, Solution/Technical Architects, and Developers

    • Data‑sharing agreements and system interfaces

    • Application architecture and system/data integrations

    • Evaluating application capabilities and supporting future enhancements

  • Database experience, including ODBC or similar connection methods; Visual Studio familiarity a plus

  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools such as Access, SharePoint, and Teams

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, plant operations, IT teams, and external suppliers

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

  • Demonstrated facilitation and cross‑functional leadership abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong functional understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations preferred), including standard functionality, configuration patterns, and extensibility concepts

  • Proven ability to evaluate customizations at a granular level , including:

    • Tracing end‑to‑end code flow and execution paths

    • Understanding detailed business logic implemented in custom code or extensions

    • Assessing alignment between technical behavior and intended business processes

    • Identifying risks, inefficiencies, or deviations from standard D365 design principles

  • Ability to partner effectively with developers and architects to:

    • Review and challenge technical design decisions

    • Validate functional intent and business outcomes

    • Support impact analysis for changes, upgrades, and remediation efforts

  • Experience supporting ERP solutions in complex enterprise or manufacturing environments (e.g., stamping, body shop, or execution systems)

  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps for work item tracking, backlog management, and collaboration

  • Experience with Teamcenter and/or Momentum reporting tools

  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering, such as stamping engineering / execution and/or body shop, is preferred

  • Note: This role requires deep functional and technical fluency to critically evaluate and validate custom solutions.  Hands‑on software development is not required.

Compensation:  

The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate. 
 

The salary range for this role is $107,600 - $156,700. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.  

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
