As the  GPS (Global Propulsion Systems) Ergonomics Technical Specialist , you will serve as the Single Point of Contact connecting GM's Global Ergonomics team to GPS Manufacturing Engineering (ME) and GPS Manufacturing Operations (MO) teams worldwide. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role where you will provide ergonomic technical training, coaching, and support towards the implementation of the UAW-GM and Global GM Ergonomic process. You will drive innovation, jointly where required, to better identify and resolve ergonomic risk of injury within the GPS Manufacturing Operations.

  • Partner with plant leadership, JETTs, and cross-functional teams to identify ergonomic risks and support implementation of sustainable corrective actions.

  • Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned from plant operations and integrating them into future designs and standardized processes.

  • Ensure program continuity by providing backup support to New Program Ergonomists to meet key milestones, as needed.

  • Collaborate with global leadership to advance ergonomics standards, tools, and strategy, supporting a long-term goal of eliminating ergonomic-related injuries.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Systems, or related fields.

  • 5+ years of experience as an Ergonomics Subject Matter Expert within automotive manufacturing

  • Ability to travel between 25% and 50% as required

  • Proven ability to analyze complex challenges, develop practical solutions, and apply advanced problem-solving techniques to non-standard ergonomic issues.

  • Experience developing and implementing data-driven strategies to reduce ergonomic risk and effectively communicate the value of ergonomics initiatives.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels and navigate differing perspectives.

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments, making informed decisions with limited or ambiguous information.

  • Experience delivering training, coaching, and mentorship on ergonomics tools, processes, and best practices.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Professional Ergonomics Certification (CPE/CIE)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience within GPS

  • Profound knowledge of Global Ergonomics guidelines, standards, specifications, and risk analysis tools

  • Demonstrated track record of driving innovation and exploration of new technologies.
