GM’s Customer Care and Aftersales (CCA) organization is a global organization that provides customer support and all post-vehicle purchase services, including vehicle parts, service, and support for recalls and warranties. CCA manages the supply chain for service parts and maintains a warehouse network comprised of Processing Centers, Redistribution Centers and Parts Distribution Centers where vehicle parts flow to fulfill customer orders. 

The CCA Warehouse Organization is seeking an experienced, innovative, and solution-driven General Supervisor (Operations Manager) at the Flint warehouse. This key operations role will lead and manage both a salaried and UAW workforce. The role is responsible for the day-to-day operations and timely execution of automotive parts order fulfillment for our customers. This leadership role balances the capability and guidance provided to Supervisors while also driving cross-departmental shift operations (shipping, receiving, inventory control, quality control, etc.) in a warehouse environment to meet safety, productivity, responsiveness, quality, people/labor and cost requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong supervisory skills, a background in inventory management, and a commitment to both safety and quality assurance.  Members of the CCA General Supervisor team are supported with on-the-job training, professional development, and opportunities for career growth. 

 

What You’ll Be Expected to Do:

  • Monitor and optimize departmental workflows within an automotive parts warehouse to support the timely shipment of customer orders.  Navigate complex operational issues on shift by identifying gaps, root causing contributing factors and applying remedial adjustments to influence shift outcomes.
  • Proficiently handle ambiguity in a fast-paced, dynamic, and solution-oriented work environment.  Define direction and resource allocation required to overcome department constraints and balance departmental objectives.
  • Lead, train, and evaluate a team of supervisors and support staff to support a high-performance work culture. Cultivate a positive, collaborative work environment by bridging relationships across both the salaried and hourly UAW workforce.
  • Enforce adoption and consistent use of standardized work, processes, tools & systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, requirements and safety regulations, including GM’s Workplace Safety System (WSS).
  • Create a culture of excellence and commitment to safety by conducting safety audits and training, while promptly addressing safety concerns/incidents
  • Actively engage in and implement department and site-wide continuous improvement activities, processes, and resources, including GM’s Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS), to drive operational efficiencies.
  • Effectively collaborate and influence operational outcomes with support functions, vendors, and suppliers to trouble shoot and enhance operational efficiencies. 

 

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):  

  • Warehouse and Order fulfillment experience and 2+ years of managerial experience
  • Analytical and technical computer skills to develop, maintain, and analyze data 
  • Proficiency in storage/retrieval/inventory/warehouse management software and systems, including use of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Must be willing to work onsite, any shift as dictated by the business; travel may be necessary up to 10%

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience 
  • Knowledge and execution experience with Global Manufacturing System
  • Exposure to a union environment and experience leading unionized teams.
  • Exceptional communication/interpersonal skills to influence, motivate, & resolve conflict.
  • Experience with Inventory Control, Quality, and Lean Manufacturing Processes 
  • Excellent organizational, project management and problem-solving abilities
