Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Defense Production Facility in Concord, North Carolina on a full-time basis (four ten-hour shifts M-Thus 6am-4pm). This role requires flexibility to support changes in scheduled days, hours, and shift based on business needs.
Role Overview
GM Defense is a dynamic growth opportunity within General Motors. Our Integrated Product Support organization provides aftermarket support to defense customers, helping them maintain mission readiness and achieve long-term value from their vehicle and equipment investments.
The Demand Planner will develop forecasts and demand plans for service parts and assemblies, coordinate planning inputs across engineering and operations, and help connect customer needs with procurement, production, inventory, and logistics activities.
The successful candidate will use analytical skills, supply-chain knowledge, and cross-functional collaboration to support accurate planning, timely fulfillment, and a high-quality customer experience.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain demand forecasts and plans for service parts, assemblies, and related components across assigned programs.
- Translate customer requirements, contract needs, and program plans into actionable demand signals and timing recommendations.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, procurement, logistics, suppliers, and program teams to ensure planning inputs and product information are accurate and current.
- Monitor inventory, supply, capacity, and order-fulfillment readiness; identify risks, communicate impacts, and drive issues toward resolution.
- Maintain visibility to open demand, supply pipeline, priorities, and key milestones while providing clear status updates to stakeholders.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in demand planning, supply chain, materials management, inventory planning, or service/aftermarket operations or related function/skill set.
- Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with careful attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, work effectively across functions, and drive issues to closure.
- Ability to interpret business, customer, and operational information and convert it into practical plans and recommendations.
- Comfort working in a changing environment with sound judgment, flexibility, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
- Commitment to understanding customer and mission-support needs and delivering a responsive aftermarket support experience.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations, engineering, data analytics, or a related field.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (SAP), materials requirements planning, forecasting, inventory, or supply-chain analytics tools.
- Experience supporting government, defense, automotive, manufacturing, service-parts, aftermarket, or other complex operational environments.
- Familiarity with bills of material, product or item master data, production planning, or service-assembly coordination.
- Experience with cross-functional program reviews, risk tracking, stakeholder communication, and change coordination.
- Experience using performance metrics and structured problem-solving to improve planning accuracy, fulfillment, or customer service.
