Software Solution Lead Engineer – Low Voltage Infrastructure
Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be onsite full-time, but the general expectation is that the employee will be onsite a minimum of 3 days each week.
The Role:
The Low Voltage Infrastructure Team within the Embedded Platform Systems & Infrastructure organization is focused on the development of systems and controls centered around on-vehicle low voltage power generation, energy storage, power management, distribution, and consumption on ICE, EV and PHEV vehicle platforms. There is no better time to join this domain as we evolve to the next generation of low voltage power strategy, innovation, and capability in current product VIP and the next generation on SDV2.0.
As a Software Solution Lead Engineer, your technical expertise in the low voltage power management domain will be leveraged throughout the entire vehicle development life cycle, including requirements definition, design and implementation, integration, testing, and problem resolution. Your products will be at the core of all vehicles within the General Motors portfolio and are essential to keeping General Motors at the forefront of low voltage related technologies.
Your endeavors will significantly contribute to GM's vision of a world with ZERO Crashes, ZERO Emissions, and ZERO Congestion, emphasizing the transformative impact of Software Defined Vehicle architecture.
Core Values

- Collaboration: Foster synergistic collaboration across cross-functional teams
- Customer-Centricity: Uphold the voice of the customer in all architectural decisions
- Integrity: Maintain high ethical standards and transparency in engineering activities
What You'll Do:
- Lead functional breakdown, requirements development, and failure analysis for low voltage power management related subsystems and ART solutions
- Create and maintain functional and non-functional requirements in the Sub-System Technical Specification (SSTS) and Behavioral Test Specifications (BTS), using Behavioral Driven Development (BDD) methodologies
- Direct subsystem design with uniform, holistic solutions across diverse vehicle architectures to reduce complexity. Coordinate with systems engineers and hardware teams to ensure alignment on interface and performance requirements
- Lead triad meetings for development of solution requirements and test cases to enable quality software creation
- Support the scrum team members in the decomposition and understanding of the solution or subsystem requirements as needed
- Collaborate with controls and software engineers to review software implementation, ensuring compliance with requirements
- Lead development of subsystem level FMEAs and collaborate on System and Component FMEAs
- Engage in root cause analysis for applicable subsystem related issues, translating solutions into new or revised requirements for low voltage power management
