描述

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale..

The Role

Step into the future of automotive engineering with GM’s Virtual Design, Development and Validation (VDDV) organization. Our team leads the industry in simulation-driven vehicle development, using advanced virtual methods to accelerate the design, development and validation of automotive braking systems. We’re seeking talented, motivated individuals ready to make an immediate impact and help drive this transformation.

The Lead Brake System Simulation Integration Engineer is responsible for supporting the move to virtual engineering by leading the integration of brake system co-simulation packages focused on foundation brake and control calibration. This position is highly technical and collaborative, involving partner teams throughout Virtual Design Development and Validation (VDDV), Vehicle Performance, Validation, Global Vehicle Hardware Engineering and Vehicle Software and Electronics Engineering. The role deals with multiple emerging technologies, and constant pursuit of innovation is key to its success

What You'll Do

In the role you will lead brake system analysis and virtual test activities in support of leading-edge vehicle programs and innovative technology development including but not limited to:

  • Develop high-fidelity virtual models for hydraulic and electric brake systems that couple physical system dynamics, actuator behavior, and embedded control-software execution. Integrate multi-domain models into advanced co-simulation environments to
  • enable cutting-edge software development, calibration, and validation of braking performance and control strategies across EV, PHEV, and ICE platforms.
  • Align software releases, calibration milestones, and vehicle hardware release milestones to ensure the virtual vehicle co-simulation package is consistently up to date.
  • Support resolution of program issues by aligning co-simulation partners to meet technical and timing demands.
  • Act as the single point of contact for Brake Systems co-sim users.
  • Support forecasting and planning needs, escalating needs for additional resources.
  • Identify strategic opportunities for innovating processes and methods.
  • Knowledge of power functions of brake systems including mechatronics details about DC Motors, controllers relative to calibration and validation of brake systems.
  • Develop, evaluate, review and verify guidelines for Functional Mock-up Unit (FMU) models provided by suppliers for various brake systems based embedded controller models for brake apply systems and calipers.
  • Build a library of brake systems mechatronics modules that can be integrated for program specific work.
  • Create developmental test procedures to enhance virtual vehicle development, calibration, and validation, and work with suppliers to troubleshoot issues in the virtual models provided for those activities.
  • Perform closed-loop learning to validate the performance of brake system co-sim models and analyze simulation data using vehicle data to improve the fidelity of the virtual calibration/validation models.
  • Develop and validate automated simulation run scripts using MATLAB, Simulink and Python etc.
  • Support implementation and utilization of Simulation Data Management (SDM) and version control tools to manage brake system plant models, effectively leveraging tools like GitHub for that purpose.
  • Define requirements for supplier co-sim packages, and work with them to ensure consistency of deliverables in terms of quality and timing, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure co-sim packages meet standards as defined by the SIE governance team.
  • Represent the needs of brake systems among SIE peers from other disciplines.
  • Advocate for adoption of virtual methods for vehicle design, development, and validation
  • Actively participate in Brake Product Development Teams (PDT)
  • Actively participate in Vehicle Performance Integration Team meetings (VPIT)
  • Collaborate with design release, software development, and validation engineers on a regular basis
  • Generate technical solutions for current, new, and major programs
  • Provide technical leadership for advanced technology development
  • Specify and balance system requirements
  • Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products
  • Travel as required

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • BS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in product development, analysis, or validation.
  • 5+ years of experience in brake system controls.
  • Proven ability to work in teams, balancing technical theory with practical limitations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical topics clearly and effectively.
  • Deep technical knowledge and understanding of brake system physics and control theory
  • MS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • MS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 2+ years experience using CAE tools and methods
  • Working knowledge of tire modeling and its influence on system behavior.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes related to brake system components, including casting, forging, machining.
  • Automotive hands-on experience with building, testing, and/or modifying vehicles
  • Participation in collegiate/competitive teams such as Baja SAE (Mini Baja), Formula SAE, EcoCAR, PACE, or comparable programs
  • Multilingual ability is an asset, particularly in: Spanish, German, Mandarin, Korean, Portuguese, Hindi/Kannada
