Staff Program Manager, AV PMO
Hybrid: This role is categorized as Hybrid, and the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical Innovation Center in Sunnyvale, CA three times per week, at minimum.

You will join the Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Program Management Office (PMO), a core pillar responsible for driving launch readiness for AV and ADAS features across L1–L4 autonomy. Based in the heart of Silicon Valley and Michigan, our team bridges the gap between cutting-edge software innovation and world-class automotive manufacturing, driving GM’s mission of Zero Crashes, Zero Congestion
The Role
As a Staff Program Manager for the next generation of Super Cruise, you will be the primary orchestrator for the evolution of GM’s flagship autonomous driving technology. Operating out of our Sunnyvale hub, you will act as the critical link between Product Management, Technical and Vehicle Program Management, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety, Design and all other internal stakeholders to drive the strategic goals of the AV organization.
This is a high-visibility role. You aren't just tracking tasks; you are ensuring seamless coordination across all involved teams in order to drive high-quality milestone plans, navigate complex trade-offs, and ensure on-time execution of our most advanced safety-critical systems.
What You’ll Do

Build trusting partnerships with Product, Program and Engineering leaders to synchronize Super Cruise development with hardware/software cycles and provide critical insights on program status, dependencies, and strategic trade-offs.

Draft and track Program Milestones with clear success criteria, integrating guidance from Product Requirement Documents, Vehicle Program rollout plans, and company-wide software release schedules.

Own the Program Risk Register and coordinate the resolution of critical bottlenecks; proactively identify systemic risks early and facilitate the development of robust mitigation plans.

Lead recurring Program, Risk, and Milestone Reviews while acting as a PMO SME to coach and guide peers on industry best practices, GM-specific processes and professional excellence.

Manage the centralized Jira Align/Jira/Confluence ecosystem and facilitate the adoption of new operational rhythms to provide executive-level reporting and data-driven insights to senior leadership.

Forecast resource needs and ensure all workstreams strictly comply with necessary standards and safety-critical software development practices.

Ability to occasionally travel to Michigan locations (Warren Technical Center and Milford Proving Ground) if needed.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

10+ years of relevant experience in (Technical) Program Management or Engineering in the Tech, Automotive or Aerospace industry.

5+ years leading AV programs driving incremental delivery from inception to launch.

Technical fluency in AV/ADAS platforms, including familiarity with AI-based driving models, simulation, validation, sensors, compute, infrastructure and operations.

Expertise in agile and waterfall methodologies; fluent with tools like Jira, Jira Align, Confluence, and Microsoft 365.

Experience working on software and hardware delivery within Automotive OEM vehicle development processes.

Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities.

Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with a proven track record of driving alignment among senior executive stakeholders and inspiring diverse, cross-functional teams to deliver change through influence without direct authority.

Ability to travel and operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA.

Experience with Software-Defined-Vehicle architectures.

Familiarity with systems engineering principles, validation cycles, and safety standards relevant to autonomous domains.

Background in scaling operational systems and processes to support evolving technology roadmaps and launch targets.

Understanding of GM’s GxDP (Global Vehicle/Software Development Process).

Experience managing to GM’s VeSCoM (Vehicle Software Control Management) timing and Program Increments (PI).

PMP, CSM, SAFe, Six Sigma, ISO 26262 or similar certifications.
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

The salary range for this role is $159,400 to $245,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
