Work Arrangement:
Remote/Hybrid - This role is based remotely, but if you live within a 50-mile radius of Austin, Warren, Mountain View or Milford, you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.
About GM Defense
GM Defense (GMD) continues a 100-year legacy of designing, validating, and manufacturing vehicles and equipment in support of defense and other government customers. Within GM Defense, the recently created Autonomous Driving and Robotics group is charged with adapting, integrating, and enhancing GM’s automated driving capabilities to the needs of GM Defense customers.
The Role:
GM Defense is looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual who is eager to showcase their talents and make a significant impact in a strategic growth area. Our ideal candidate has familiarity and experience working with electrification programs and GM's battery technology/strategy. This is a Customer-facing role who will serve as their primary point of contact and key to managing the relationships between GM/GMD and the Customer while delivering on contracted deliverables and requirements. Additionally, the ideal candidate thrives in highly ambiguous situations and demonstrates problem-solving leadership with minimal oversight.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and oversee current execution of multiple, simultaneous contracted and pursuit efforts in the GMD Electrification portfolio.
- Collaborate with the Business Creation and Product Development leads to ensure future Request for Proposal submissions (technical feasibility, timing, resources, etc.) are executable upon contract award.
- Execute the awarded contracts, achieving customer requirements, exceeding expectations, and maximizing GM Defense profitability.
- Manage government and GM Defense program imperatives, including schedule, performance, cost, resources, risk assessment, and gap closure plans.
- Lead and manage the cross-functional program execution team (PET) enabling all participants to contribute to their full potential.
- Manage issues and risks through effective decision framing and drive for resolution.
- Communicate clearly through standalone presentations, team meetings, and one-on-one discussions with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Develop materials for internal gate reviews and external Government/Customer leadership reviews.
- Integrate all supporting functional processes.
- Drive on-time completion of work.
- Develop high-performing teams by establishing behavioral norms and clear priorities.
- Maintain effectiveness in changing environments and with different technologies and responsibilities while balancing Government/Customer and GM Defense priorities.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree
- 7+ years of progressive experience in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Supply Chain, or other business, technical, or operations disciplines, including experience in at least one planning, program management, or comparable cross functional role
- Demonstrated planning, program management or equivalent experience leading cross functional initiatives (e.g., PMI certification)
- Candidate must either be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required export control authorization
- U.S. citizenship required to comply with federal government contract provision expressly restricting role to U.S. citizens
- Excellent ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast paced environment
- Proven track record of developing and driving high-performing teams
- Strong framing and communication skills
- Organizational agility and managerial courage
- Proficient in MS Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Project.
- Strong business acumen with experience and understanding of financial tracking during program execution with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience in the design, development, and manufacturing of vehicles.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- MBA or equivalent degree.
- Familiarity with battery technology, previous experience with energy/electrification projects
- Familiarity with the defense industry, including knowledge of Acquisition frameworks, Business Development, Planning, Portfolio Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Accounting, Purchasing, and Supply Chain.
- The salary range for this role is $134,700 to $207,600. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
