The Role
We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership and operational support within the Body Shop. This role is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, supporting maintenance and production teams, and driving solutions that align with Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment priorities. The ideal candidate is a strong planner, a versatile problem solver with Fanuc robotic experience, and a leader who understands Body Shop cell structure, station flow, automation, tooling, and dimensional quality requirements.
What You'll Do

Provide technical leadership and day-to-day support for Body Shop operations, maintenance, tooling, automation, and quality systems.

Plan, prioritize, and coordinate maintenance, engineering, and production activities to support uptime, throughput, quality, and safe execution.

Serve as a technical resource for skilled trades, production teams, salary teams, outside vendors, and cross-functional partners.

Apply strong knowledge of Fanuc robots, Body Shop cells, station flow, tooling, conveyors, automation systems, and manufacturing equipment to diagnose issues and implement effective countermeasures.

Support breakdown response, root cause analysis, project planning, equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and start-up activities.

Work with headquarters manufacturing engineering teams and plant partners to commission, install, validate, and improve automation solutions.

Analyze dimensional data from CMM, Perceptron Vision Systems, and related quality inputs to drive build-to-nominal performance.

Manage Body Mechanical Control procedures, including A, B, C, and E31 data and metrics, to support Body Shop metric achievement.

Lead problem-solving activities with Stamping, Body Shop, Paint, General Assembly, suppliers, and outside partners to resolve process and quality issues.

Support corrective actions for customer dissatisfaction concerns affecting GCA, DRR, DRL, and other quality performance indicators.

Maintain regular communication with internal and external partners and present planned maintenance items, open issues, and improvement plans to leadership.

Promote a safe work environment while supporting ISO, GMS, TIP, documentation, calibration, and standard work requirements.
Your Skills & Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or currently pursuing an Engineering degree.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Body Shop tooling, manufacturing dimensional processes, or related manufacturing engineering support.

Demonstrated experience with Fanuc robotic systems, process troubleshooting, and automation support in a manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of Body Shop cell structure, station-to-station flow, manufacturing constraints, and process interdependencies.

Broad knowledge of manufacturing equipment, robotics, automation, tooling, quality systems, and maintenance processes.

Experience supporting new equipment build, installation, start-up, process validation, and launch readiness activities.

Strong planning, organization, and follow-through skills with the ability to anticipate needs and drive issues to closure.

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt communication across trades, production, engineering, vendors, and leadership.

Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, coordinate priorities, and make sound decisions within established procedures and company guidelines.

Extensive ISO knowledge and experience supporting GMS principles and continuous improvement activities.

Willingness to rotate shifts or work off-shifts as business needs require.
