설명

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role

Candidate’s primary responsibility is to lead the design, engineering, and release of closure systems on vehicle programs.  The candidate will utilize a considerable amount of leadership skills, creativity, initiative, and independent judgment to lead product development teams and collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver an integrated and balanced subsystem.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Lead subsystem development and cross-functional integration with system architects, program teams, studio, and manufacturing to deliver robust, balanced solutions.

  • Partner closely with Body Manufacturing, Assembly, VDDV/CAE, SQ, and Purchasing to align design, dimensional, packaging, and manufacturing requirements.

  • Drive subsystem dimensional strategy, GD&T alignment, and interface integration to ensure quality and manufacturability.

  • Lead Product Development Teams (PDTs) to execute all VDP deliverables on time, including design releases, sourcing, tooling, validation, and PPAP.

  • Co-lead system design, peer, and DRBTR reviews to ensure design fidelity, best practice compliance, and issue resolution.

  • Develop and execute validation, fit, and capability strategies utilizing CAE, VSM, matching builds, and slow builds.

  • Lead trade studies and decision-making based on cost, mass, timing, DFMEA, and quality targets.

  • Enable high-quality, on time launches by driving root cause resolution of dimensional and integration issues.

  • Apply robust engineering and continuous improvement tools (DFSS, OPEX) to optimize design and execution.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience as DRE or equivalent in new product development with execution of all vehicle development cycles for systems and subsystems (concept through launch).

  • Experience with plastics part development a plus (injection molding, compression molding)

  • Experience with Mechatronics systems a plus

  • Proficient in engineering operations, Specification and release processes, and best practices

  • Experience at all phases of a vehicle program
