The Role
GM’s Design Operations organization is seeking a GxDP Process and Change Management Lead to support the implementation of new versions of GxDP representing the interests of Global Design as well as implementing enhancements and changes to existing versions of the development process. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and integrating Human Interface Design and the Global Software Development Process (GSDP) into Design and GxDP (Global x Development Process). You will be working in collaboration with the GxDP Process Manager and updating the gold source for processes. Aligning and partnering with all areas of Design and truly working as One Team to assess improvements and Design impacts of proposed GxDP changes.
Your passion for continuous improvement in both organizational processes and data technology will be key to success in this role. In this position, you will leverage a deep knowledge of GVDP/GSDP, Design sub‑processes, and HID workflows to:
- Define, create and maintain integrated process maps, milestones, and deliverables
- Ensure HID and software activities are clearly represented and connected in GxDP
- Drive change management, training, and adoption across the Design community and cross‑functional partners
You will be responsible to work independently with minimal guidance, tackle complex, cross‑functional challenges, that have significant operational impact across Design and partner functions.
What You’ll Do
1. Process Integration: Design, GSDP, GPDP, and GVDP
- Integrate HID and software development activities into the existing GVDP/GSDP/GPDP frameworks for Design, ensuring clear inputs, outputs, and decision points across the lifecycle.
- Create and maintain end‑to‑end process views that show how HID and software work, how products connect to Design deliverables and program milestones.
- Define and maintain standard templates, RASICs, and checklists for HID and GSDP‑related Design activities (e.g., UX research, interaction design, UI specification, software feature readiness as it pertains to HID).
- Ensure Design (including HID) workstreams are aligned with Software, including traceability between user experience requirements, software requirements, and vehicle feature content.
2. GVDP/GPDP/GSDP Design Process Ownership
- Act as a liaison for the subject matter expert on Design GVDP processes and their intersection with software and HID, identifying and addressing integration gaps, handoff risks, and timing conflicts.
- Translate high‑level GVDP, GPDP, and GSDP changes into clear, actionable Design process updates, working with Design leadership and cross vehicle program teams.
- Use advanced analytical and problem‑solving techniques to evaluate process effectiveness, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements that support functional strategies.
3. Change Management & Adoption
- Lead change management activities for new or revised processes related to HID and GSDP within Design and across GxDP (e.g., impact assessment, stakeholder mapping, communication planning).
- Help develop and deliver training materials, quick reference guides, and one‑page process views to support Design studios, HID, and cross‑functional partners in adopting new ways of working.
- Partner with Design leaders, Program Management, HID, and Software & Services teams to drive consistent adoption of agreed processes, tools, and deliverables.
- Measure and communicate adoption, compliance, and impact, using data and feedback to iterate on process and training content.
4. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Influence
- Build and sustain relationships with HID, Software Engineering, Product Management, Program Management, Validation, and other enterprise process owners to ensure alignment of Design and GxDP practices.
- Use data and clear storytelling to demonstrate the value of integrated HID/GSDP processes, anticipate objections, and address stakeholder concerns.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for colleagues with less experience in GVDP/GSDP and HID integration, providing guidance on complex process questions and use cases.
5. Continuous Improvement & GM Behaviors
- Proactively identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate Design (including HID) related process steps where possible (e.g., templates, workflows, and approval mechanisms).
- Demonstrate and role‑model GM Behaviors including:
- Win with integrity – consistently apply governance, policy, and safety considerations in process design and decisions.
- Commit to customers – ensure HID and software integration into GxDP improves the customer experience and design quality.
- Innovate and embrace change – pilot new approaches to HID and GSDP integration, learn from results, and scale successful practices.
- Speak fearlessly – raise risks and gaps in our current processes and propose fact‑based solutions.
- Move with urgency – prioritize high‑impact work that unblocks programs and improves execution speed.
- Be inclusive & lead as one team – actively bring in diverse perspectives from Design, HID, software, and program teams to co‑create solutions.
- Own the outcome – take accountability for the effectiveness and adoption of the processes you design and steward.
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

- Extensive experience with GVDP/GxDP and Design sub‑processes, including timing, deliverables, and governance.
- Experience working with or adjacent to Human Interface Design / UX/UI and software development teams
