Descrição

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale..

The Vehicle Dimensional Quality Manager serves as the single point of accountability for total vehicle dimensional and static quality across an assigned program—from early development through production launch. This role leads the definition, integration, and execution of dimensional quality strategies, ensuring that product design, manufacturing processes, and tooling systems align to achieve world-class fit, finish, and surface quality.

Operating at the center of Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Design (Studio), the Vehicle Dimensional Quality Manager drives cross-functional alignment on dimensional requirements, risk mitigation, and system integration. The role is responsible for managing Dimensional Technical Specifications (DTS), leading variation analysis, and validation activities, and ensuring all dimensional targets and quality metrics are achieved throughout build events and launch.

This individual is a critical program leader, responsible for identifying and escalating risks, resolving complex cross-functional issues, and guiding teams through dimensional problem-solving and continuous improvement. Success in this role requires deep expertise in dimensional engineering, vehicle development processes, and manufacturing integration, along with strong leadership, communication, and decision-making capabilities.

What You Will Do

  • Single voice / Quality leader for total vehicle dimensional / static quality from program initiation through launch on assigned program. Work with Product Engineering (PE), functional organizations, and Manufacturing Engineering (ME) to ensure on-time high quality dimensional deliverables to support the program needs. Communicate risks to program team and appropriate leadership as needed. Drive resolution of issues, remove roadblocks, and escalate to various levels of management as required.
  • Champion Dimensional / Static Quality initiatives into program-specific activities and interfaces by driving requirements and enablers into all program activities and collaborate with Product and Manufacturing teams & forums. Support program timing workshops, build readiness and review meetings, Quality Valves, Gate Reviews, Production Launch Team meetings, etc.
  • Lead the Advanced Vehicle Development Center (AVDC) Dimensional process in the completion of Dimensional Engineering deliverables including initial Dimensional Technical Specifications (DTS) inventory, DTS risk assessment, SOR inputs, enablers list, Jewel Radii, etc. Provide input on critical joint configuration and manufacturing build strategies.
  • Define and manage the program Dimensional Technical Specifications and risk assessment process from cradle to grave on assigned program. Evaluate 3D variation analysis results to drive balancing of DTS, ensure documentation of requirements in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and validate DTS / Manufacturing processes through Launch release. Drive System Integration for key complex interfaces and drive enablers into affected interface groups. Ensure DTS aligned to Surface Quality and all Quality/Global Customer Audit targets.
  • Support Studio / Design Quality (DQ) leads in math evaluation for Interior and Exterior dimensional/static quality requirements through virtual review (and physical tabletop models, if needed). Escalate high priority dimensional/static quality issues with Program / PE / ME / Studio leaderships.
  • Support manufacturing requirements/ part formability issues review/discussion with ME studio architect (Interior and Exterior). Drive math evaluation to identify high-risk areas for manufacturing (Surface quality, Hemming, Assembly). Develop / Lead discussions of vehicle level Quality/ Dimensional integration issues with program team / PE / ME and Styling leadership to drive resolutions.
  • Drive and support Body shop tooling datums and GD&T correlation evaluation. Identify and document areas of potential disconnects due to regional process differences. Identify critical body shop tools and include plans for physical evaluation prior to launch. Understand manual and auto closures install processes for compliance with latest global agreements. Drive review and resolution of all deviations with expert teams.
  • Drive development of Dimensional Validation plan including critical parts list for Production Tooled Build (PTB) readiness. Lead dimensional quality initiatives during PTB and drive the team to achieve quality glide-path targets. Establish Quality Dimensional Performance Report (QDPR), a key communication tool defining program dimensional status, and continue bi-weekly updates through SORP. Ensure key PTB dimensional learnings shared with affected organizations and implemented prior to launch / production. Develop plans for processes not validated during PTB builds.
  • Lead the Dimensional team members in executing dimensional build event activities at plant and in achieving vehicle dimensional targets. Lead resolution of complex cross-functional fit issues. Lead Body and GA Matching events, prioritize issues, and summarize Match performance. Drive team to assure root cause activities occur in a timely manner. Support resolutions for PQ issues identified from physical evaluations. Support IRT and Production Launch Team activities regarding dimensional plans and issue resolution. Ensure all program dimensional metrics achieved. Ensure the Assembly Plant understands final requirements at the end of launch. Complete Dimensional Exit Criteria at the end of launch prior to Launch Team Release.
  • Provide lessons learned and continuous improvement ideas to appropriate organizations at the completion of the launch including documented process control and reaction plans for complex systems and communication of lessons learned.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Advanced leadership and communication skills necessary, including organizational, project management & time management. Highly capable of communicating with leadership at any level and decisive in making the right decisions for the vehicle.
